Got a call from Angus the steer Said your help is needed here Cows all cornered on the range On the wind a mighty change
Colonel Sanders called us together Said we gotta be birds of a feather The time has come to aid bovine And draw a line for chickenkind
With a heavy heart, I joined the corps Brooded back to my front door My darling Penny did implore But I was sure: I was off to war
O, my love, I will return To your sweet wings and kind concern But first I gotta be a slaughter-stopper A heroic chicken in chopper!
We strap on our nuggets And we load up our choppers We're gonna stop those cows From becoming tasty whoppers Our wings miss a beat As we watch our brethren fall Turns out we're chickens after all
We knew it wasn't dignified But to the woods we ran to hide Sanders cried, "You cowards all, We cannot let the cattle fall!"
But our nature we could not deny Chickens run, they do not fly Then the bantam among us said, "Maybe those farmers just need to be fed"
We put our bird brains to the job Of how to sate the hangry mob Some bird suggested we go ham And someone else said, "give 'em lamb"
But in the end, the way was clear It would take a nerd, not a bombadier Our tactics had to be calorific So the chickens got... scientific!
We packaged our results And we loaded up our choppers We had to stop those cows From becoming tasty whoppers We may show up late But we still answer the call Turns out we're chickens, but with gall
We descended slowly from the sky The air smelling like the 4th of July And as we neared the enemy line Our numbers swiftly did decline
Some choppers fell, some peeled away Hoping to crow at another day Mine was the only copter that made it So I was there as the farmers ate it
We may run We may hide We may fly with our tails between our thighs But here we are With a treat Please enjoy this impossible meat!
We found our brass nuggets When we loaded up our choppers We stopped a lot of cows From becoming tasty whoppers The stakes were high But these cocks stopped the brawl We're proud to be chickens after all! We're proud to be chickens after all!
I make porridge with them. Cook them in half water and half milk, add some salt. More liquidy than the way grits are usually served. It’s good for breakfast in the winter.
They're very good. You cook them like oatmeal, and there are almost always instructions on the box. Butter, butter, butter .. it's superb in them. Salt and butter and you have to learn how you like your grits. Some like them thicker, some thinner.
They go especially well with greasy food like sausage, eggs, etc.
