What does someone do with grits?

I went to the food pantry because I more than qualify and in the box I got I received two large packages of grits. No idea how to cook them or what to do with them. I've heard of shrimp and grits but I don't like shrimp.

They're very good. You cook them like oatmeal, and there are almost always instructions on the box. Butter, butter, butter .. it's superb in them. Salt and butter and you have to learn how you like your grits. Some like them thicker, some thinner.

They go especially well with greasy food like sausage, eggs, etc.
