Would you rent a room out of your house?

I'm considering the idea for financial reasons. Only thing is the house needs work so that might deter people oh and I have cats which I refuse to give up.

would really depend on the tenants. whoever owned the house before us apparently did just that. The lady next door has roomies/tenants too. I'm sure it helps with expenses if done right.
Yes, we rent out our converted double garage into a relatives accommodation to a young disabled woman, water, electricity and internet all included, she is very quiet

My sister in law did it and it turned out ok for her.
I would make sure to background check them and get references first.

We have had relatives stay with us for extended periods at no charge, so renting would not be a huge change for us.

Well... I only have one bedroom, so my criteria would be very strict.

Examples:

Can not be female
Can not be straight male
Can not be a transphobe
Must be ok with sharing the bed with a transman and a cat
Must enjoy cuddling another man
Must have romantic feelings towards roommate, and he having the same feelings for you

Basically: unless it's someone willong to be my gay boyfriend, I wouldn't "rent it out" for anyone

I would not let that put you off. Test the market! You will be surprised!

Yeah, as long as they were nice to my cat and maybe smoked me up every once and awhile.
