Does a job in the video game industry sound fun?

Ducky · 31-35, F Best Comment
No. Developing video games is hard work! Visit any game development studio and you’ll see it’s not as fun as it may sound. Even if you land a job as a beta tester or something, you still have to nitpick every little thing about the gameplay for glitches, bugs and other technical issues. I’d say it would probably only be fun if you have a passion for making video games, but even then, it’s a tough job.

@Ducky Or you'll spend hours making moodboards of references of rotting meat, nasty bloody wounds and burnt skin while working on zombies and undead characters. 🙈

@CrazyMusicLover Doing anything detailed, even just regular skin textures, would be nightmare for me. I have zero creativity. I wouldn't be able to make my own Minecraft skin. 😅

@Ducky I'm not even sure how much creativity is needed in realistic things anymore. 😅 Maybe in combining the right kind of stuff but it seems like a lot is done just with scanning.

How much money to the ones who design the really popular games make?
Raaii · 22-25, F
Yes it seems I guess
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Not really. 😕

It does. I've heard it's less stable / lower income / more chaotic though.

@DDonde Depending on the position and the company itself but it's often A LOT of sitting by the computer and staring at the screen. Neck issues, eye issues, carpal tunnel, you name it..

@CrazyMusicLover I already get that whole package, except at staring at boring code doing boring things with boring financial data 😬
