When I was diagnosed with bipolar I was really nervous to tell all my friends because I thought they’d think of me different

But instead they replied with “yeah,” and it was actually pretty insulting

Are you the manic type? One day happy goes on a shopping spree . Next day sad. Wakes up early in the morning rearranging furniture. Hope u handling it well. It’s def no joke

It is because so many young people nowadays claim to have some mental disorder. PTSD, bipolar, depression, ADHD...

Everyone has jumped on the bandwagon of having something wrong upstairs so now it is like, "Yeah, so does everyone else."

It is every bit as common as when people my age say they have diabetes and/or COPD.

Why insulting? You expected tears, hugs, sympathy? It would be insulting if they backed away and avoided you. Maybe they just accept you for how you are regardless of whatever label you carry.
My shit was sudden adult onset. It went from bad to nightmare in a matter of a few months. I was big news for a minute back home. Not the kind I wanted to be but I was so deep in shit, I didn’t even know.

{@miserableatbest] do not dismiss the yeah out of hand it could mean a sort of acceptance of what you are telling them

Annoying that people use it as a buzzword
Sorry, that hurts, I know.
