I think he is brilliant, but very creepy. And just like any genius type minded person they have no concept of the average person's life or way of thinking. Everything they create is fit to their minds.

His multiple children with multiple women, and his mannerisms make me very unsettled and creeped out by him. I see him not as some tech savior but as an evil genius that one day will say "I own the World, follow me" or else!

This is my feeling about Elon.

@Catastrophe That is quite shallow of him, I was expecting my comment back to him about him liking Elon's mannerisms to get me blocked by him. Maybe he has not read my reply as of yet? LOL
Catastrophe · New
@WillaKissing My bad, I think I blocked him for a rude comment before. No one has time for figihting people on the internet so they can get their aggression out/pretend to be smart. Not saying him in general, just anyone that behaves disrespectfully.
Pfuzylogic · M
I hear he is willing to pay for anything.
Catastrophe · New
@Pfuzylogic lol horses for women even!
Mudkip · 31-35, M
I feel like you have to be at a genius level in at least one thing to be where he's at. Whether it's entrepreneurship or business analysis, he is no bot. Setting your emotions aside, and speaking objectively, he is intelligent and at the moment, the richest entity in the world.
Catastrophe · New
@Mudkip Well, I don't know if he's the richest person in the world. Perhaps the richest person that pays taxes. I never said he was a bot. There are 1000s and 1000s of Elon bots on X, many who only post about how great he is too. That isn't balanced. Sure no one can deny he is a good entrepreneur but even his own team have made fun of his lack of knowledge. Do you know about that?
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Catastrophe Those 'bot musks' are all from the core of Grok AI.
Catastrophe · New
@zonavar68 They're probably scamming for him too. Cryto scams... I wouldn't put it past him.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
He is intelligent, and qualified in computing.

I can't really judge his personality though, although giving his children silly names as he is said to do, is hardly anything to be proud of.

I do not trust his business aims and methods though, and his highly-unoffical "DOGE" manoeuvres (blanket dismissals accompanied by blanket accusations of criminality, by a "department" never given proper Congressional approval and scrutiny) suggest he is utterly ruthless and inhumane.

I regard his dream of manned flights to Mars as just that, a dream, and a very unpleasant one at that; and I bet he won't volunteer to be in the first crew. I also regards his cluttering near-Space with huge numbers of satellites as unsustainable and unwarranted; little better than very expensive fly-tipping of costly materials merely to make him even richer.

He is reputed to be very unpleasant and exploitative as an employer; but I don't know the truth of that. .
Catastrophe · New
@ArishMell Yeah, definitely! I have no desire to live on Mars or the moon. Earth is a nice place... the people are the problem though lol
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@ArishMell Same as Bezos, et al really.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@zonavar68 Crueller, perhaps, but otherwise, yes, they all in the same mould.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Funny how the people with 6 teeth idolize people with 12 yachts .
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
I neither like him or dislike him. He has money and power so he is in the public square. Just like Mark Zuckerberg. Or Bill Gates.

Funny how he was admired by the left when he was building electric cars and talking about going to Mars.

But he showed some individuality by not listening to the left and going his own way.

Now they despise him because he doesn't say and do the things they want. For them, its not about the individual, but the narrative. He violated that narrative, now he must be destroyed.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SumKindaMunster He interferes in affairs of the state despite having no democratic mandate. He uses his entrenched position in the media establishment to spread disinformation. He uses his wealth to interfere in thw democratic processes of other states.

Of course I would be happy if he supported progressive causes. I would be happier still if he just behaved like a half decent human being and paid his dues to society.

Why do you think I am a fan of enormous, expensive electric cars? They chew up our public highways and present a daily threat to the safety of me and my family.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl
He interferes in affairs of the state despite having no democratic mandate.

So does George Soros. So does Bill Gates. So does Mark Zuckerberg. But you don't care if those efforts dovetail your beliefs, see below:

Of course I would be happy if he supported progressive causes

Exactly! My point exactly. If Musk suddenly announced he had a change of heart, and started pouring money into Democrat races, you would be applauding and cheering.

Why do you think I am a fan of enormous, expensive electric cars? They chew up our public highways and present a daily threat to the safety of me and my family.

Because, like you, I choose to make lazy assumptions about the people on here and assume since you support some left wing causes, you must of course support them all.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SumKindaMunster Soros "interfered" by founding a university in eastern Europe. Gates directs his immense philanthropy through a blind trust. That's a bit more impressive than funding rscists and publishing faked pictures of politicians in bikinis.
MissingLink · 56-60, M
Not a fan of him or his cars
Catastrophe · New
@MissingLink His cyber trucks are ugly af.
MissingLink · 56-60, M
@Catastrophe that's for sure, I don't think they are very safe either.
Floki · M
I’m neutral about him.

Most high-end elites are not intelligent in the way we mere mortals would portray it.

Global elites, tech bros, Saudi princes, etc. all surround themselves with acolytes and thinktanks to do the actual grunt work of making their megalomaniacal ideas become reality.
Magenta · F
Well he has to be intelligent to do what he's done and to be the worlds wealthiest man. Full stop.

I don't hate him or super like him, but I think he gets a bad rap. Many love to hate those more powerful.
Magenta · F
@Elessar You're not going to convince me of anything. Why are you trying to?
You could just reply to the question posed by the op and not to me that didn't ask to be responded to.
Catastrophe · New
@Magenta We all have a right to our own opinions here.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Magenta I comment wherever I want.

Are you allergic to freedom of speech?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
A lot of people like Elon because he's a stupid person's idea of what a smart person acts like.
Catastrophe · New
@DunningKruger Hahaha so true. Well put.
Adrift · 61-69, F
He strikes me as one of the kids that you played with once and said yeah your weird bye.

@wildbill83 You seem to assume that creating a business or a job is the pinnacle of human achievement. Politicians have the much more diffucult brief of defending their nation and the rule of law, and making sure that people do not starve or die unnecessarily. Musk is not very bright because he thought that his business skills would make him an effective politician. The chaos surrounding DOGE clearly proved him wrong.

Neuman · M
he has delusions of competence. and his confidence vastly outpaces his skill in just about everything, I think.
well maybe not in 'earnings'. which... is just a terrible dimension to measure anyone by.
Catastrophe · New
Yeah, his own team knows he isn't competent.

This is hilarious and revealing:

Neuman · M
@Catastrophe there's a video where someone asks Linus (the original author of Linux) if total number of lines of code written is an effective way to measure engineer productivity, he responds with 'oh, anyone who thinks that is dangerously stupid', the questioner then says 'well, that's how musk does it' and Linux replies with, 'oh wow. I didn't realize my comment would be so perfectly on the nose.'
Catastrophe · New
@Neuman lol

GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
The 4channers and X people like him. He's smart, but I don't want to be lorded over by narcs. Already dealt with that in my family.
Catastrophe · New
@GeistInTheMachine Yes, I'm certain he goes to 4chan. He even used pepe as an avatar. I'm done with evil people... for good. There is definite shift when you set your boundaries and don't allow evil to creep into your life anymore. I can also relate to the narc family. It's awful. I was the scapegoat. I feel bad for my brother though, being the golden child. I don't think he can break free from that.
exexec · 70-79, C
I have been around him a couple of times at conferences. He is very smart, but I found him to be totally enraptured with himself and not concerned about anybody else. I don't like him.
Catastrophe · New
@exexec At conferences, interesting. Yeah, my friend (who I met here actually) works for him at Tesla. I don't think he is stupid, I think he is amazing at using other people and finding real talent. I do believe he is self-absorbed, as you say, a psychopath.

Also, you might find his interactions with Eric Frohnhoefer and Ben Leib interesting.
Elons the goat.
I doubt it’s him sitting behind a PC banning peeps from X
Catastrophe · New
Why exactly is he the goat? What has he done for people?

I'm sure it's not him (although he knows who I am... my friend knows him)...
It's most definitely his policies.

He is extremely wealthy and I assume that his business and technology acumen has earned him at least some of that wealth. But intelligent? He has a distorted and very narrow minded view of the world that he never tires of exhibiting. He interferes in democratic processes and arbitrarily attacks minorities and those who dare to contradict him. He is a classic narcissist with zero self-awareness or emotional intelligence.
Khenpal1 · M
@SunshineGirl He is a mix going between good and bad .
