How can anyone support jesus and capitalism?

It is much harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.

Given that communism/socialism is worshipping the state......

Jesus’ message is clear—it is impossible for anyone to be saved on his own merits. Since wealth was seen as proof of God’s approval, it was commonly taught by the rabbis that rich people were blessed by God and were, therefore, the most likely candidates for heaven. Jesus destroyed that notion, and along with it, the idea that anyone can earn eternal life. The disciples had the appropriate response to this startling statement. They were utterly amazed and asked, “Who then can be saved?” in the next verse. If the wealthy among them, which included the super-spiritual Pharisees and scribes, were unworthy of heaven, what hope was there for a poor man?

Jesus’ answer is the basis of the gospel: "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God" (Matthew 19:26). Men are saved through God’s gifts of grace, mercy, and faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Nothing we do earns salvation for us. It is the poor in spirit who inherit the kingdom of God (Matthew 5:3), those who recognize their spiritual poverty and their utter inability to do anything to justify themselves to a holy God. The rich man so often is blind to his spiritual poverty because he is proud of his accomplishments and has contented himself with his wealth. He is as likely to humble himself before God as a camel is to crawl through the eye of a needle.
Blessed are the cheese makers.. toiling all day making cheese to feed the masses for free.
It’s a brilliant business model..

Obviously it's not meant to be taken literally, it refers to any manufacturer of dairy products.

You know the "camel" in that sentence refers to the large end of a rope. Thread through a needle, rope, get it? Fun fact for the day.

Wealth is a tricky thing in the NT because it was a primary belief of Jesus' (it would seem) that the resources - spiritual and physical - needed for the deserving was being hoarded by the religious authorities. Religion - and thereby God - had become inaccessible to the ones who sought Him the most.

In the Book of Luke (who was a physician), the issue of wealth is discussed. The perspective seems to be that wealth is just fine, so long as one has done their part to aid the least fortunate. Wealth wasn't something to be hoarded but shared when necessary, as spiritual glory was the ultimate goal.
Yep, well I support neither. But I do support that poor camel you're trying to get through the eye of a needle. 🤨

How can people mingle politics and faith? Conveniently ignored the next few verses I see.

Don't play the opposite of the Republican game.

There were also FAKE priests of the USSR who said heaven wasn't required because the government would make the perfect place on earth.

Basically you can be Christian regardless of your political affiliation.
@BritishFailedAesthetic Sure, because that has nothing to do with politics. But something like how to deal with poverty, that does.
I think generally religion is a negative affect on society. But if people are going to be religious, I say we point out what their own religions say about poverty and classism.
@BohemianBoo Oh yes, help out the poor and needy but this can also be done practically- the Democrat and Republican Christian can help a food bank, etc or be even more personal- buy a homeless person a meal, etc
@BritishFailedAesthetic On a personal level, that's good, but it does nothing in the long run. TBH, I see the promotion of charity as being a bad thing. It's just a way to put the responsibility on the individual, when it should be on the systemic level.
This is why corporations will sometimes do charity. Aside from the good PR, it shuts up the public, when we should be demanding that these big corporations pay more taxes so we can fund welfare programs.

So what do you think the 'kingdom of heaven' is?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SW-User Let me ask yo a question. Why was Jesus Crucified? Was it because he was just too nice a guy that never called anyone a bad name? Was it because he kept all your rules of decorum? News flash. He was crucified because he upset people He called them as he saw them. He made a whip and cleared he temple. He called the religious leaders drama queens. He said unpopular things like "Unless you eat my body and drink my blood you have no part of me". Your idea of who Jesus was is as wrong as your idea of who I am.

@hippyjoe1955 spewing hatred for everyone around you and being an effective father to your children are two different things.

And yes, I know exactly who you are based on how you treat people who can’t pop your jaw out of socket.
Who you truly are really shines from behind a screen. You may be older but you are decades behind in any sort of maturity in Christ.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SW-User Telling a child not to touch a hot stove is not hate. It is love. You have no idea what you are even talking about.

If you don’t have capital how can you donate? If you do not donate how can you support the church?

To support Jesus you have to support capitalism!!

When you read the scripture that same question is posed at the end. I am guessing you didn’t read that scripture in the Bible because the answer follows quickly.
