Do u believe not liking Bad Bunny makes you a racist? 🙄 🐰 🐰🐰

Look people. We can all agree on one thing. It was a beautiful thing to see how an artist performed in honor of his culture and his people. I get that ok. But not everyone speaks Spanish. Not everyone listens to Bad Bunnys music. That does not make
you a racist. It just means that you love your own country enough to stand your ground. Yes it's a complicated issue. But we as Americans should not be afraid of speaking our minds. Do you agree ?

Not everybody listens to Rhianna.

How does not being into bad bunny show you are standing your ground?

I am not one to listen to this genre of music. I don't listen to many genres.
But i do appreciate talent, however it is presented.
That show was well produced. I understood the message. And the music was energized. All good stuff. And in a minute, one could get a translation.

And guess what? Bad bunny is an american citizen. Able to speak his mind, unafraid, as an american citizen.
Last sunday, his message was one of love, unity and belief in one's self.
And somehow, that is being not only vilified, it is being attempted to be investigated by some doofas on the right.
I mean...come on.

@ThePatientAnarchist No substance. No logic. Just a picture there. I rest my case. ☺
@Zonuss May it rest in peace.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@ThePatientAnarchist You haven't made any argument of substance. Nothing. I'm so disappointed. But then again you are Canadian.☺

The guy IS AMERICAN… he is speaking a language that is very universal and the native language to his country Puerto Rico (which is USA)
Most people can’t understand a word of Opera yet it’s still considered beautiful…the guy did a GREAT job and ya know he is doing what he needs to do and is NOT hurting anyone so yeah … I am digging it and if you don’t like it well you were exposed and move on is what o would suggest to those 😁😂
black4white · 56-60, M
@Zonuss so are you saying only people that represents the American culture as you say …should perform in the Super Bowl?
black4white · 56-60, M
@sunsporter1649 probably but not professional or at a high level so I would guess yeah
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@black4white I'm saying Speak English if you really are who you say you are. ☺
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Des goûts et des couleurs, on ne discute pas. 🤷‍♂

... there is a sidenote though. When your alternative is called "The All American Halftime Show", when you have a Puerto Rican artist performing. Maybe there is some xenophobia going on right there... considering the status of Puerto Rico and it's relationship with the USA.

I'm more intrested to know, if this is the most snowflake song you've ever heared:

[media=https://youtu.be/1B0yJDQuaWg]

... poor guy really seems to have a hard time. He just wants to catch his fish, drive his truck, drink his beer and wear his boots. Poor man... he's so oppressed. That's what "All-American" means now a days I guess.
I really didn’t mind. I mean, there is enough Spanish-speaking people in the US for it to make sense. I mean it’d be different if he was speaking French, since French isn’t even a native language here. So him speaking, Spanish did not bother me.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@TurtlePink Well parts of the Louisiana bayou still speak French. Yet not like Spanish. And certain communities in Iowa still speak German and Czeche. Again not like Spanish.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I speak multiple languages. The USA is a melting pot. Not a unilateral country.

My father actually spoke seven languages, Spanish being one of them, with two dialects on one language.

Does that mean he liked rock music? Heck no! Yet rock music is obviously in the German language, which he spoke two dialects.

The man had to interpret between two Germans once in Italy.

If you ever happen to visit California you will notice the Spanish language spoken everywhere. Just like in Europe multiple languages are spoken in all EU countries. Go to Canada and you will notice French spoken in some provences. Go to China and you'll find multiple languages as well.

Music nor language though wasn't what Trump was criticizing Bad Bunny about. It was TOTALLY because of Bad Bunny's criticism over ICE. That is what makes Trump a racist!

Don't deflect the issue here! Trump is racist because of ICE!
It just means that you love your own country enough to stand your ground.

I think the term racist gets thrown around as soon as ignorant comments are made. It makes you sound ignorant when you exclude Spanish-speaking people from the USA and doubly so if you are unaware that Puerto Rico is a part of the USA.

@Zonuss Okay? Maybe go speak to the people calling you racist?
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Nadie I'm just saying in general to those who assume.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Of course not liking a particular artist does not make you a racist.

However, making a personal attack on that artist and suggesting that he is not a "proper" American because of the language he chooses to speak, his artistic choices and dance style, quite clearly is racially motivated.

@sunsporter1649 You're too funny.

I don't care about pop music but this singer is getting great publicity that can't be bought.

My partner loves Philippine music.
Does not liking Bad Bunny makes you a racist?
Depends on the nature of the criticism.

tRump called the show “an affront to the Greatness of America” and a “slap in the face” to the country. That's not a criticism based on taste, it's an attempt to politicize a show about conditions in the American island of Puerto Rico.

I don't know if tRump's comments are explicitly racist, but they're NOT about like vs dislike. They're implying that anyone who liked Bad Bunny's performance is anti-American. Even though Bad Bunny said "God Bless America" at one point.

@sunsporter1649 Got any more red herrings??

What?
Not liking Bad Bunny "means that you love your own country enough to stand your ground"??
I'm sorry but, whatever your politics are, that makes no sense.
No taste in music is more or less patriotic than any other.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@ThePatientAnarchist Foundational Black American here. Yes I am the original inhabitant here. 👍
@Zonuss so your ancestors were brought over as captives and had English forced on them.

I dont think you are right that the US is too complicated for the rest of us to understand, but maybe your mind is!
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@ThePatientAnarchist Not bought but already here. The lie you believe is just that..a lie. ☺
I totally agree.
We're a multi-cultural country. Loving America would seem to entail accepting all the fruits, nuts and vegetables in the salad bowl.
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays I also wish I had a beachfront, penthouse condo in South Beach. 🤣

Who’s stopping you Learn it
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
I think you need to consider what an American is and what love of "your own country" really requires. Based on your pronouncement, you seem to be lacking in both.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Zonuss Maybe you should do the work instead of looking for the "easy" (and lazy) way out.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@MarkPaul Maybe you should make sense for a change instead of dribbling like you always do on this site. ☺
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Zonuss Maybe you should think for yourself (for a change) instead of acting like a thoughtless zombie. 😎
WestonTexan · 18-21, M
There is a contingent of people in this country who are enraged by the speaking of Spanish. People will harass someone in public for speaking Spanish. That sure sounds racist to me.

I heard that Kid Rock lip synched his songs poorly while swagging his strut in a pair of jorts.
I prefer reality with Bad Bunny.

Absolutely not racist.

@BohoBabe That was the point I made. But some people here act like it's totally acceptable for us to just be compliant in spite of our own personal opposition. We object for a reason. Speak English. ☺

@Zonuss 🤷🏼Is that him? How's big is his....ahem. I don't listen to radio anymore because the music is 90% suckfest. Giggity. And I don't praise or keep up with celebrities. And trends are just for making other people money. My bad? I guess?

@pride49 Then why waste time making a comment?

@sunsporter1649 I'm not knocking the effort. But it was lame. And no I couldn't understand a single word he was saying either.🤣
