Why are so many entertainers so pro-Democrat?

Help me understand, why are so many in the entertainment industry so heavily invested in Democrats?

The only reason I can think of is DRUGS. The more serious a politician is about stopping the illegal drug flow and distribution the louder the voices from the entertainment industry against that politician.

Virtue signalling.

They need to feel accepted and belong to their peer groups, and virtue signalling about leftwing values is the best way to do this. It's self-perpetuating. They get competitive with each other as to who can show their support more.

Also, note that White males have to signal harder, lest they get cancelled...that's why Mark Rufalo, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young are trying so hard...lest they get cancelled or dismissed for not being a good "ally".

@SumKindaMunster i really am not a mainstream watcher.
I have not heard ot yet. I never was a big Springsteen fan...but i will. Hang on...
Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster i am all for the message. We need more artists using their art to help put this shit to heel.
The tune sounds familiar. An original would have been good.
I hope more comes.

@Carla See, this is proving my point. He's virtue signalling and you are all in on the message.

It's a reworking of "Streets of Philadelphia" from some years back, that's why it sounds familiar.

I find it grating, annoying and very much a desperate attempt to stay relevant by showing support for the "current thing" that all these virtue signalling celebrities engage in.

Are you asking why some comedians make jokes about those in power?

It's their job, essentially. If they scripted a whole show around agreeing with the government, that wouldn't be . . very entertaining 😴

@Heartlander you say cities like the rural boonies have a history of being less corrupt.
@MethDozer Hmmmmm? Good comment. But just seeing how things are in Missouri, the two big cities, Kansas City and St Louis, were once so corrupt that the state of Missouri took away those cities' authority over their own police. I don't think that any of Missouri's smaller towns enjoy such a distinction.

Don Rickles was a lifelong Democrat. Despite his personal political affiliation, he famously performed at the inaugurations of Republican presidents. He viewed Donald Trump as a persistent, high-powered businessman who tried to sell him a condo, famously joking that he had to throw a dollar on the floor to get Trump to leave him alone :)
Creative and educated people as well as those who are well traveled tend to be more liberal than conservative.
@independentone

You really think so? Maybe those educated by like kind may think so.
@Heartlander Not sure about that, but in my experience I've found those who have been exposed to more of the world tend to be more liberal.

They live in a bubble far removed from the real world.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
So many sold their souls to climb up in their career and get more opportunities handed to them is why. They’ve sold their souls so they never stop working for their dark master.
If it’s all about drugs why haven’t you got a problem with Mexico, where most of your drugs come from?

Venezuela is definitely about oil.

You do understand that people with wealth can get what they want when they want it, right?
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
Are you saying that the Reality TV Star playing the role of POTUS is a Democrat?

@nudistsueaz All about appearances, and nothing deep
@4meAndyou Driven by addiction ... mostly an addiction to power; to force others to get get out of their way or accept their right to rule.

@MoveAlong Not true, many have server personality issues.
MethDozer · M
Creative minds typically aren't conservative
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@MethDozer Not entirely, but generally. There are some great conservative minds, you just don't tend to find them in politics these days because true conservatives -- like true liberals -- realize that politics is the art of the possible: debating, finding common grounds to build consensus and compromising in order to govern, provide statesmanship.

Unfortunately what passes for politics these days -- on both sides of the aisle -- is pure theatrics, And not of the entertaining type.
MethDozer · M
@dancingtongue I disgree and think that's the centrist myth/daydream but I repsect your opinion.

Politics isnt any kind of art, it's a set of morals and principles
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@MethDozer I appreciate that, and respect your opinion.

And that was how it used to be once the election was over: the campaigning stopped and instead of finger-pointing and labeling, there was a real effort to find middle ground from which to govern and lead. And that truly is an art, imho. But a lost art, unfortunately.

...because Democrats are the Ascended members of modern society.
