How Is The US Going to Assume Leadership in Venezuela

I can't remember the woman's name that won their last election, but Maduro wouldn't relinquish his office and she had to go into hiding! I think it was said she was in Norway. Maybe now the people wil get who the want!

Whether is a viable opposition remains to be seen. There are oppositions groups and individuals but whether they can manage the country properly may be a big unknown.

The greatest danger is a "power vacuum"; the country breaking down in fighting between factions pleased to see the Maduros taken away, even if they don't necessarily agree with a foreign country having removed them; and Maduro's loyalists including possibly the military.

Such unrest will serve no-one's interests, certainly not of the USA nor of the US oil firms hoping to take over Venezuela's main industry, and least of all the citizens of the country.

It's not, without an actual invasion.

The Maduro government is still in power. I think what mattered to Trump the most was the PR stunt of having Maduro captured.

I'm more interested in when someone will assume leadership in the US.

There is an opposition government in exile that is widely considered to have won the 2024 election. Naturally Trump has made no reference to Edmundo Gonzalez or Maria Corina Machado, the woman that pipped him to the post for the Nobel Peace Prize.

No real management, just a transition team until everything is in place. It will be temporary.

There's a formula in place for this, if Trump can follow it. It's called the banana republic model. The US is going to prop up a politician who is friendly to us and will give us all the mineral rights, and in return for those mineral rights, we're going to look the other way while he commits major human rights violations.

By invading it and just standing around with no plan and throwing soldiers at any problems. Thats pretty much our entire game plan for every war in history.
