Children are not a burden, they are the future of mankind.
Every one benefits from children. While they are children, adults who look after them, teach them, tend them, have meaningful employment , putting their wages back into the society you live in.
When the children become adults they go to work, paying taxes. They teach children and apprentices. They drive trucks that deliver everything you have in your house.
They plant the fruit and vegetables you consume to survive. They run sheep and cattle and goats and pigs and...
Where would the world be without children?
For a while, a bunch of geriatrics confined to wheelchairs and beds because there will be no adult children to care for them.
Then there would be no more live humans upon the earth.
I agree that might be a good thing. Giving the natural world back to the critters.

@WalksWith genocide ? Are you referring to the Jews and Palestinians ? (Who are BOTH Caucasian ).
When the Jews started to rule them they were 200k in numbers. Under their rule there are now 3 million . Thats the worst case of genocide ever !
WalksWith · 56-60, F
@AthrillatheHunt

It's pretty obvious who I am talking about. And SO WHAT? Give them a home, security so they can Flourish, then take it away? And you commented without even watching the video. What kind of person are you?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@WalksWith why don’t you judge me ? Judge me judge me! Haha

zonavar68 · 56-60, M
No but there needs to be a recognition that humans do not HAVE to create children and families in order to be accepted as 'normal'. Heck I have kids (all awesome humans) and I'm anything but 'normal' being that apparently I have ASD and am apparently neuro-divergent so don't do social stuff, friends, dating, relationships very well. But I've never asked for help to deal with being a dad.

In your logic we do not pay taxes for what we dont use, yet we all do that for so many services already. The point of the "commons" is we pool money to serve all of society for the common greater good.

Checklist taxes would implode things. That stated, there could be caps - i.e. cap deductions at the biological replacement number of two.

Above four children, one could get taxed more for the cost to maintain additional infrastructure and the cost to the natural environment that requires mitigation...

The way to look at paying tax which is spent on child support is to imagine you are paying back for the child support your parents received for you. (Not sure if this translates well to your country but in the UK everybody gets child support payments).
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
No.

Yet I don't believe in giving a tax break either for kids. Nor these head of house hold tax breaks.

There's a reason why this is done and it has little to do with taxes or even politics.

It's solely done to promote monogamy.
exchrist · 31-35
Id agree why should i pay the same amount of taxes as someone with 5 kids i work just as hard similar number of hours but im not forcing the state to babysit my kids everyday for 8 hours and transport them to and from while im at work. Its simple cost\savings. Wtf? You get it.
We are all taxed for schools because

a) it is a fundamental duty in liberal (JS Mills, not political) societies and esp. a democratic republic to educate citizens;

b) we all benefit not only from an educated citizenry, but from a citizenry which can continue to work, etc.

i will never have kids but i'd much prefer my taxes go to feeding and educating children instead of blowing them up personally~

@ElwoodBlues agree. How many kids (offspring) does Elon Musk have?
Alledgedly so many he should be paying 80% income tax? Idk my point stands

@Strictmichael75 my complaint regarding education spending (a favorite for republican spending cuts) is thus validated cuts should be made to military spending and transferred to domestic spending (education) and debt payments.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@jehova But it’s not the topic here
jehova · 31-35, M
@Strictmichael75 and i previoudly voiced my agreement to the original post. I do think if i have no kids i should pay fewer taxes. Elon Musk with all those offspring should pay more taxes (and he could afford too).
oldguy73 · 70-79, M
i don't have any kids, will some girl like to help make one?, so i feel better paying school taxes; lol
Jake966 · 56-60, M
Children are not burden to society if they have responsible parents
4meAndyou · F
For the same reason you would have to pay taxes to improve and maintain the roads if you didn't drive a car.
How did you come to the conclusion that children place a burden on society?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Because it benefits society. If you enjoy the benefits of society, you must pay the price for it.
Justme264 · 70-79, M
Same reason conscientious objectors don't when they continue to pay income tax which might fund the military?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
If you think children are a burden to society then I thank you for not having any.
malizz · 70-79, M
Wait till you're old and there aren't enough working age people to support you.
BEENOV · M
No way man. We would be extic in 2 generations
exchrist · 31-35
@BEENOV certainly we need population reduction. Given the rate of popularion growth and limited resources. Might you prefer reduction in quality of life and supply shortages more thsn sustainability?
The Chinese tried something like that. How did that go?
