No worries parents...

Your childcare isn't so expensive. Trump's tariifs will pay for it.
Trust him....
ElwoodBlues · M Best Comment
Sorry, Carla, but that's a cleaned-up version that doesn't really convey the full impact of Trump's words. Here it is in the raw:

Sept 5, Economic Club of NY
Q: If you win in November, can you commit to prioritizing legislation to make child care affordable and if so, what specific piece of legislation would you advance?
A: Well, I would do that, and we're sitting down, you know I was, uh... somebody we had, uh... Senator Marco... Rubio and my daughter Ivanka was so, uh... impactful on that issue; it's a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about, that, because, look, child care is child care. Couldn't, you know, there's something you have to have it, in this country, you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I'm talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they're not used to, but they'll get used to it very quickly and it's not going to stop them from doing business with us, but they'll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country.

Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we're talking about including child care that it's going to take care-- we're going to have, I-- I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time. Coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care, I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I'm talking about, including growth. But growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, uh... that I just told you about.

We're going to be taking in trillions of dollars and as much as child care is talked about as being expensive it's, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we'll be taking in. We're going to make this into... an... incredible country that can afford to take care of its people and then we'll worry about the rest of the world. Let's help other people, but we're going to take care of our country first. This is about America First. It's about... make America great again. We have to do it, because right now we're a failing nation. So, we'll take care of it. Thank you - very good question - thank you.

Lemme highlight his phrase "and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care, I want to stay with child care,..."
Was someone offscreen trying to steer him back on topic? Were his handlers trying to avert that train-wreck of a non-answer??

Here's the video

@JimboSaturn he oozes fear and hatred. You can literally see it in any close up photo.
I believe the stench people say that comes from him is not from what comes out of him, but what lives in him.
@Carla Interesting he says this:

Coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud (Emphasis added.)

...like HIS fraud?
Carla · 61-69, F
@SomeMichGuy no, no. His fraud is special and sanctioned by the entire maga universe.

Saddest part of all this just may be the (inexplicably) thunderous applause he received for this "wisdom".
Carla · 61-69, F
@rinkydinkydoink it doesnt matter how incoherent those words are, they cheer.
A complete breakdown in the art of...hmmm, thought?
I should have posted the wilted word salad prior to what i posted.
Someone already did though.

Don't the people who are paying for childcare also pay the tariffs? If you put a tariff on foreign goods, it's not the foreign nations who pay the tariffs, its the US citizens who buy the foreign goods.

So if it brings in trillions of dollars the parents will collectively pay trillions more on top of the childcare expenses. But Trump (or Harris, if she is elected and did this) would get trillions of extra dollars from this to play with.

Did Trump actually ever take a math class? I feel sorry for the reputation of the University of Pennsylvania, which he attended. Every time he says something like this, its academic reputation suffers.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@PowerofStories Yup -- the economists pretty much all say Trump tariffs will hit the middle class and poor VERY heavily.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Has no-one pointed out to him that if you apply a tariff to imports, that may raise a lot of income but may also raise the goods' retail price to compensate for it?

If taken too far it can also risk the exporting nation applying similar taxes to the goods it buys from you in return.
Carla · 61-69, F
@ArishMell that's all anyone can hope for.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ArishMell Biden increases tariffs on $18 billion in Chinese imports
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 What has been the result so far? Or is it too early to say for certain?

Ironically a lot of goods made and sold under American names, including I think the DELL PC I am using to type this, are manufactured in China. Are those taxed too?
Adrift · 61-69, F
Too Both sides blue and red.
It seems that only the privileged can afford children these days.
Most people are struggling just to afford food and housing and dont have the time or resources to afford another mouth to feed.
Grandma can't watch them because she has lived out her expected life span according to the obama plan her social security has been eaten up by other programs.
Daycare is not only as unaffordable as your Healthcare but who wants to give birth only to drop them off for 12 in a childcare farm.
Kids need thier parents.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@JimboSaturn Daycare can be stimulating but when you have parents that put in 10 to twelve hours working to afford a living that is leaving very little time with family.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Adrift I'm just speaking from my own experience. My mother is no where as good as daycare. I think working too much is a problem but if you work normal hours, that's lots of time with your kids. When they are in school, they will be gone most of the day anyway. We did it for my daughter and it was great, her daycare was amazing.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@JimboSaturn I was lucky to work for a small company that allowed me to take my child with me to work untill he became mobile and the daycare was close by my work.
Not everyone is that lucky though.
My favorite times i remember with my kids was talking to them about their day on the drive to and from school.
The teachers were always surprised when I knew more about what went on in their classrooms than they did.
I also knew the names of the kids in their class sometimes better than they did too.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
It actually makes me sad that so many think he’s Godlike. I can understand partisan differences but will never grasp Trump as a leader!
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
I saw one economic study that says Trump tariffs could cost the average American up to $9,000 a year in increased costs.
Carla · 61-69, F
@ChipmunkErnie nooo...come on ernie, china will pay that what?🤔...three trillion a year?
Piper · 61-69, F
Yeah, I'm sure all the women and couples struggling to afford "child care" in this country, felt greatly relieved and hopeful upon hearing or reading that. After all...child care is child care. 🤷🏼🤦🏽‍♀
Mexico is going to pay for American childcare, which will involve building a wall around children.
Carla · 61-69, F
@BadAssTunaBotHoe well perfect! That'll fix that pesky child murder by gun problem as well...
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Carla Kamala Harris flip-flops, embraces the border wall after dubbing it a 'vanity project'
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Sounds like his "Mexico will pay for the wall" kind of response.
Carla · 61-69, F
@JimboSaturn his response to anything he knows nothing about.
Im surprised he didn't express that it would be solved, day one. Or in two weeks. Because, you know, it's easy.
Did he also explain that those trillions in tariffs are going to be paid by Americans? 🤔
Carla · 61-69, F
@NerdyPotato does he even understand that? I highly doubt it.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@black4white An other nations won't mind a bit. They will not change their behaviour at all. How does he figure that? For someone who is supposed to be a business genius, he sure doesn't know how business people make decisions.
Carla · 61-69, F
@JimboSaturn business genius. How many bankruptcies? Casino bankruptcies. Who bankrupts a casino? Why a business genius, of course.
Nanoose · 61-69, M
Trump should try telling that to my son. My son and his wife both have good jobs but proper child care is a big expense to them. Cheers and happy weekend!
TexChik · F
We will have plenty of money after cutting off all funds to illegals and hunting them down for deportation.
Parents can't possibly vote for what's good for the kids. First of all because they were not educated, second because there's no socialism on the ballots besides the Greens, and the lack of education made sure parents are not smart enough to know.
kutee · T
surely imports woul dslow, and no money would come in
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@kutee Imports might slow, but those that come in would bear the cost of the tariffs, increasing the price to the American consumer. The countries/companies would simply raise the price they charge Amerians in order to make up the tariff charges.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@kutee "Biden increases tariffs on $18 billion in Chinese imports"
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Let us know when harris has a press conference to explain her plans
oh lord...
