Has no-one pointed out to him that if you apply a tariff to imports, that may raise a lot of income but may also raise the goods' retail price to compensate for it?
If taken too far it can also risk the exporting nation applying similar taxes to the goods it buys from you in return.

Ironically a lot of goods made and sold under American names, including I think the DELL PC I am using to type this, are manufactured in China. Are those taxed too?
