Too Both sides blue and red.
It seems that only the privileged can afford children these days.
Most people are struggling just to afford food and housing and dont have the time or resources to afford another mouth to feed.
Grandma can't watch them because she has lived out her expected life span according to the obama plan her social security has been eaten up by other programs.
Daycare is not only as unaffordable as your Healthcare but who wants to give birth only to drop them off for 12 in a childcare farm.
Kids need thier parents.

@Adrift To your point this country has NEVER cherished our teachers and educators in my almost 60 years of life on this planet… I wish that at some point we pay those that truly take care of our country’s future with better wages.

It’s not about who we have in office on this it’s more about our society view of what those educators should be paid, at least in my eyes :)

You are in my age range and we grew up and NOT coddled like the kids are today not sure which is right and which is wrong LMAO there has to be a happy medium

@Adrift sure. Kids need their parents. Parents need living wages, and time.

At this time though, there are about fifty million kids under twelve. Those are the people we need to be concerned about now. Figure that out and maybe child rearing would become more attainable.

What programs enacted ate up grandmas ss?

@Adrift Some people don't have grandparents to look after their children and some parents like to work. I don't think going to work constitutes being absent from you child's life. Also many daycares are actually more stimulating and beneficial for growing minds than dumping the kids off with their grandparents or stuck at home.

@JimboSaturn Daycare can be stimulating but when you have parents that put in 10 to twelve hours working to afford a living that is leaving very little time with family.

@Adrift I'm just speaking from my own experience. My mother is no where as good as daycare. I think working too much is a problem but if you work normal hours, that's lots of time with your kids. When they are in school, they will be gone most of the day anyway. We did it for my daughter and it was great, her daycare was amazing.

@JimboSaturn I was lucky to work for a small company that allowed me to take my child with me to work untill he became mobile and the daycare was close by my work.
Not everyone is that lucky though.
My favorite times i remember with my kids was talking to them about their day on the drive to and from school.
The teachers were always surprised when I knew more about what went on in their classrooms than they did.
I also knew the names of the kids in their class sometimes better than they did too.
