Don't the people who are paying for childcare also pay the tariffs? If you put a tariff on foreign goods, it's not the foreign nations who pay the tariffs, its the US citizens who buy the foreign goods.
So if it brings in trillions of dollars the parents will collectively pay trillions more on top of the childcare expenses. But Trump (or Harris, if she is elected and did this) would get trillions of extra dollars from this to play with.
Did Trump actually ever take a math class? I feel sorry for the reputation of the University of Pennsylvania, which he attended. Every time he says something like this, its academic reputation suffers.
