Its a great way to control the narrative and make claims that didnt happen. No reason truth cant be public truth,😷
@whowasthatmaskedman
Well that's what it seems like when they're so unwilling to make the testimony public.

@whowasthatmaskedman Spot on! They don't want the truth to be made public, only their version of it.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
How else can they lie about it?
softspokenman · M
I don't think that they are trying to protect Hunter from being scrutinized by the news media. What ever happened to "Transparency"?
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@softspokenman Transparency is for honest people.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
GOPers don't want public testimony because then they'd have to admit they have no actual proof of anything; it fits better into their propaganda plans to keep all testimony secret and then leak selected quotes out of context.
LeopoldBloom · M
They don't want to be analyzed and criticized. These guys aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed. They know every news outlet outside of the ultra-conservative ones will tear them apart. And they won't be able to lie or misrepresent Hunter's testimony if it's public and we hear what he has to say.

@Pikachu Although, as the motorcycle riding senior citizen from Florida pointed out, the Democrats have also held closed-door hearings. I think every hearing should be public unless it's dealing with classified information.
However, the inquiry into Hunter isn't a search for the truth, it's political performance art.

@LeopoldBloom
The concept of a closed-door hearing is not one i necessarily find problematic. The utter refusal to allow it to be public is the strange part.

@Pikachu In most cases, it's not an issue.
DiegoWolfe · 36-40
Likely because like with epsteine they will be outed in ways they wont like!!!
DiegoWolfe · 36-40
@LeopoldBloom And whqt good is that going to do? And you trust that "download"?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DiegoWolfe I hadn't thought about that possible twist.
DiegoWolfe · 36-40
@samueltyler2 I just find people too trusting of things provided by "authority"
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
LOL, so the crooks dictate to Congress now, eh?
BigImo · 22-25, F
They seem to have forgotten that Hunter is a Yale educated lawyer
needsmilk808 · 56-60, M
These days I’m not surprised be anything the government does
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
I think it is the same thing the democrats have done in the past and I could care less about Hunter or how or if he testifies.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@Pikachu Yes that is they way they are up there, democrats have closed door hearings so they can control the information and leak what they want to make the other side look bad and republicans do exactly the same thing, open your eyes.
@Subsumedpat
Maybe i'm just unaware. Can you think of any cases where a Republican agreed to give testimony but only if it was in public and the Democrats flatly refused?

@Pikachu I have not clue how many hearings a year they have but some are closed and some are not so that has likely happened, Not that it matters if they want to have a closed hearing they can.
Johnson212 · 61-69, M
Keeps Hunter from preaching to the camera in order to make himself look better for his upcoming criminal trial.
@Johnson212
Who cares if he preaches to make himself look better? The public will not be trying his case.
I don't think that's a valid reason.

@Pikachu Really, so you think witnesses should decide for congress what kind of hearing congress has. Hunter Biden refused to comply with lawful subpoenas requiring he appear for a deposition. Meanwhile, Hunter Biden has shown he has no problem showing up on Capitol Hill to engage in political stunts. Democrats want the hearing public so they can turn it into a circus in front of the cameras. This has happened before.
@Johnson212
Not at all. As i stated initially this is not a defense of hunter Biden's choice, only a question about the motivations which would cause such an utter refusal to have the proceedings be public.
Wouldn't such an aversion be rather hypocritical given the last 8ish years of such performances from a certain high-ranking member of the Republican party? Or given that certain female republicans keep holding up printed out pictures of Hunters naked body?
lol
My point being that the Republican party is not against political spectacles so no, i don't consider that to be a particularly valid reason either...

Don't mind me. I'm just waiting here until a couple of them weigh in.
