Not defending Hunter Biden here but i want Republicans and Trump loyalists to give an honest opinion here:

What do you think of the Republican refusal to let Hunter Biden testify publicly?
Does that strike you as suspicious? Do you feel somehow it's justified?

Why do you suppose they are refusing a public hearing of his testimony?

Keeps Hunter from preaching to the camera in order to make himself look better for his upcoming criminal trial.

@Johnson212 That's a funny way of saying that it keeps him from telling the truth to the general public.
@Johnson212

Who cares if he preaches to make himself look better? The public will not be trying his case.
I don't think that's a valid reason.

@Pikachu Really, so you think witnesses should decide for congress what kind of hearing congress has. Hunter Biden refused to comply with lawful subpoenas requiring he appear for a deposition. Meanwhile, Hunter Biden has shown he has no problem showing up on Capitol Hill to engage in political stunts. Democrats want the hearing public so they can turn it into a circus in front of the cameras. This has happened before.

Not at all. As i stated initially this is not a defense of hunter Biden's choice, only a question about the motivations which would cause such an utter refusal to have the proceedings be public.

a circus in front of the cameras.

Wouldn't such an aversion be rather hypocritical given the last 8ish years of such performances from a certain high-ranking member of the Republican party? Or given that certain female republicans keep holding up printed out pictures of Hunters naked body?
lol

My point being that the Republican party is not against political spectacles so no, i don't consider that to be a particularly valid reason either...
