Then there's other situations all around the country, it's not even just north vs south. Here in Venice you'll hear that people who live in the inland (i.e. people who live ~10 minutes from here) have a diet based on frogs; in Tuscany you'll hear people from any random city telling you that people from the immediately next neighboring city are absolute savages. Bolzano people drawing the north/south line basically at the Italian-Austrian border and refusing to speak to you in Italian even if it's officially their language too 😅
Historically has to be Punjab and Pakistan for the 1947 independence aftermath. BUT today there isn't THAT sorta level of hatred... in fact almost no hatred luckily.
Let's go farther back in time. Moghuls (a pact of Islam) created an enimity with Sikhs. Sikhs, a complete different religion, just wanted to be left in peace. But Noooooo! Moghuls tortured, massacred Sikhs (including Children and women) as they refused to accept Islam, an ongoing war created by Moghuls spanning nearly 200 years. Two Sikh Gurus also sacrificed themselves (one for the sake of Hindus to save Hinduism being converted into Islam).
HOWEVER... the 6th Guru decided enough is enough and created fearless soldiers. An army known as "Sant Sipahi" (Saint Soldier). The 10th Guru's Army consisted of Men and Women where they were treated equally. Today there is no Moghul (or Mongul better known in English). If anything the spirit of Sikhs is unbreakable; tortures and sacrifices were endured with great grandeurs amongst the Sikhs.
Hate does need to be taught, there are some chinks of light though...In fact there are many who break the status quo by loving and entering into relationships with those that they are not meant to do that with.

More of a genocide than a war IMO. I work w many Caribbean peoples and Jamaicans don’t like Trinidad people for some reason . Which is weird as a white guy bc they are the same to me .
