[image/video deleted]
@Guitarman123 you heathan!
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout ok, still dosent answer the question
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I'm definitely not a Liberal
boudinMan · 61-69, M
nope... jesus wasn't a government official or politician. nice try.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Kwek00 one of Germanys biggest parties is the social Democratic party which pre ww2 had strong roots in marixism. Being aware of working class struggle is definition of socialism and if you don't think jesus would like the idea of workers owning the means of production then I don't know what to tell you
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Guitarman123 The welfare state wasn't created yesterday. And I know that social-democracy has it's roots in Marxism, that doesn't mean that they installed the welfare state. I think it's seriously time for you to do some digging in late 19th century Germany and Bismarcks' statemanship.

I'll try not to attribute ideas to icons that never uttered them themselves. Or recuperate icons to make my ideas look more fancy. 😅 The idea that some mythical figure from 2000 years ago, would have an informed opinion on an ideological stance that has blossomed as a reaction to early 19th century social conditions, is... like @auris said, a bit cringe.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Kwek00 the welfare state in the uk anyway was created under the Labour government, especially the NHS.i never made such a claim, I said he was a socialist because of the views he expressed were in deep contradiction to the views of the ruling class of the time and also greatly contradicts the views of the Conservatives who claim to be devoted Christians
Abstraction · 61-69, M
That's like saying dolphins, frogs and submarines are all fish because they all swim under water.

There are some aspects of Jesus' practice that are similar to socialism but as a whole his teaching goes well beyond it at its core and socialism goes well beyond what Jesus taught at its core.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 Agree with that part, no argument. It's not that there's nothing in common.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Abstraction theirs even Christians who identify as socialists
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 Agree. And there are also Christians who identify with capitalism over socialism who don't place high value on money, who care for the poor, are active in making the world a better place. I work with many people who are exactly that. I'm a Christian who is neither a socialist nor a capitalist.
I disagree with you on one point: you are arguing that socialism is just something like not caring for money and a brotherhood of man. It's far more than that. And many things that are not socialism have those values. Then you've put a label on Jesus that doesn't fit. Buddhism is not socialism. Jesus is not a socialist. If you said Jesus had some significant things in common with socialism I wouldn't argue at all.

Calling someone a socialist before the industrial revolution is a bit cringe.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@auris ye theirs validation to what you are saying, I interpret socialism to be a stance against the ruling class
auris · M
@Guitarman123 I get from you are coming from but that is way too simple. If it is just that it will leave you with principals to work with.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@auris and my principals are that uk dosent need a monarchy but does need the tax money that goes toward the royals
Aidan · 26-30, F
I Like the photo but Jesus is not a politician and religion doesn’t really belong with politics.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@boudinMan hell no
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 good to know your statement had no political connotation whatsoever.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@boudinMan I have my personal issues with religion but dosent mean I'd expect anyone else to not follow a certain religion
Budwick · 70-79, M
We've been expecting you;

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Socialism is all about big government. More like the original Communist.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hunkalove that's facism your thinking of, socialism and communism advocated for workers owning the means of production. Socialists also believe in public services paid by the government whereas communists support a society where theirs no class division or a state
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PrincessOfHell I'll buy into your bullschiff the day after I see pelosi sitting next to me at a clinic
@sunsporter1649 Pelosi is no socialist and I couldn't care less about her or any democratic candidate for that matter. Aoc and Sanders are alright I guess but I am not from the US.
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@PrincessOfHell please see the top post... thank you.
Capitalism made the need for socialism.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Roundandroundwego If monarchy had continued with the ruling class it could have done the same. Capitalism created a new elite.
Egg01 · 56-60, F
Oooooh you'll trigger the conservatives with this one 😬
Nimbus · M
More so than Jeremy Corbyn?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Nimbus I prefer corbyn
Northwest · M
He also wore tights, at times.
WolfGirlwh0r3 · 36-40, T

Guitarman123 · 31-35, M

Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@iamonfire696 your sexy
empanadas · 31-35, M
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
It's true. Even the disciples had a miniature communist society going on. They pooled all their money, and did things for one another out of the goodness of their hearts.

@boudinMan you mean paying taxes?
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 i know where you're going with this... jesus said 'render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's'. that still doesn't make him a socialist.
