That's like saying dolphins, frogs and submarines are all fish because they all swim under water.
There are some aspects of Jesus' practice that are similar to socialism but as a whole his teaching goes well beyond it at its core and socialism goes well beyond what Jesus taught at its core.

@Abstraction at his core wasn't jesus about everyone getting along and not concerning oneself with money?
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 That's not socialism. Socialism is very concerned about money. It's an economic theory built by economists.
Aren't submarines at their core about swimming under water? You have to go a little deeper into both socialism and Jesus' teaching before you put a label on him.

@Abstraction socialism advocates for Co operation over competition and its a belief created by workers and trade unionists banding together and putting people above profit
PrincessOfHell · F
@Abstraction It's critical of money and puts mutual aid and people above profit and acknowledges the true value of labor which is something that Capitalism neglects.

@PrincessOfHell I understand and agree with those things although I'm neither a socialist nor a capitalist. "Socialism is a left-wing economic philosophy and movement encompassing a range of economic systems characterized by the dominance of social ownership of the means of production as opposed to private ownership." (Wikipedia but it's substantially sound.)
Jesus taught neither this nor capitalism. He had no interest in forming governments nor taught that his followers should. He looked to a coming kingdom ruled by God and taught its values. Some of these things resonate with socialism - no argument. But to say he was a socialist like squeezing Cinderella's slipper on a foot it doesn't really fit.

@PrincessOfHell yet, here you are, typing that on a computer or smart phone, conceived and created by a capitalist.
Guitarman123 · 36-40, M
@boudinMan computer and smart phone produced by workers in cooperation with each other
Guitarman123 · 36-40, M
@Abstraction and those values were that money isn't important as getting on and helping our fellow man
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 led by a CEO of a business in a capitalistic system.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 Agree with that part, no argument. It's not that there's nothing in common.
Guitarman123 · 36-40, M
@Abstraction theirs even Christians who identify as socialists
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Guitarman123 Agree. And there are also Christians who identify with capitalism over socialism who don't place high value on money, who care for the poor, are active in making the world a better place. I work with many people who are exactly that. I'm a Christian who is neither a socialist nor a capitalist.
I disagree with you on one point: you are arguing that socialism is just something like not caring for money and a brotherhood of man. It's far more than that. And many things that are not socialism have those values. Then you've put a label on Jesus that doesn't fit. Buddhism is not socialism. Jesus is not a socialist. If you said Jesus had some significant things in common with socialism I wouldn't argue at all.
