The far right wants to "Exorcise" democracy. They will cry the loudest when they wake-up and realize many rights they have taken for granted are now gone. They will have friends in prison doing time for having committed "Thought crimes"
"Friends" turning you in to law enforcement because you complained about corrupt republican politicians. Welcome to the new, "improved" America. Liable to be stoned to death for failing to be a born again "Christian" nationalist under fascist leadership.

@Grateful4you "Friends turning you over..." You mean like this? FBI turning up at the home of a Trump supporter? Democrats LOVE the Gestapo and KGB model to take care of anyone who dares to disagree with them.

@Grateful4you Ironically they will shift blame the Dems when things don’t go their way.
Democrats are out of control with their rhetoric..
I'm voting red to teach them a lesson..
I'm sick of the divisive bullshit

@Onestarlitnight you missed my point completely.

@Onestarlitnight Did you look in the mirror today?
JonLosAngeles66 · M
@justanothername one side thinking they need to teach the other side a lesson is the divisive part.

Apparently removing socialists from office for destroying the country is a threat to democracy according to them. Their hunger for power is so great they are going to do anything possible to cheat.

Seriously worth a watch -- this video has aged incredibly well

IDK why people think of democracy as this stable, stagnant thing; the vast majority of countries in the vast majority of times have been autocracies. These past couple years of American history are the exception, not the rule.

Funny that when democrats are about to lose control, their narrative shifts to "democracy is on the line." Ironically, a true democracy leads to mob rule, and eventually to socialism. Funny how the dems often project a deceptive truth.
JonLosAngeles66 · M
@BizSuitStacy the insurrection and attempted coup may have steered that thought
BizSuitStacy · M
@JonLosAngeles66 Oh...you mean the insurrection that even the woke FBI said wasn't an insurrection? The coup occurred in Nov of 2020.

Only for some

@HoraceGreenley it isn't worth it to waste my time, you already admitted that your figures do not include carryovers, and every multi-year grant does just that, and you need to show how much is actually spent not just what is authorized for the year.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 Waste your time?
The point is what's the cost to society? The actual wealth transfer is what is at issue, i.e., the cost to society to maintain a defense. This goes to the heart of the issue. Specifically what can a society afford.
The timing of the expenditures is not at issue. Can society actually afford the expenditures and what is the optimal amount to spend is the point.
If you understood the research and the relevant economic principles, then you'd understand my point.

Election deniers on the ballot is the end of democracy for sure.
States are already passing laws allowing state officials to over rule county election board officials,

The closer it gets to the election the more crap democrats are slinging. They don't mind lying to try and keep power. It's not going to work though.🤣
GrinNude · 61-69, C
This is not the first time that our democracy and our way of life has been threatened by the reds.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Yes if the Democrats somehow manage to hold control of the house and expand control of the senate, democracy will be dramatically curtailed
BlueVeins · 22-25
@GJOFJ3
How are either of those things a threat to democracy?
It's true that some of 'em want to do that... but if they did, they wouldn't be the first to do so in the 21st century.
The number of illegal immigrants in detention centers incresed over the course of Biden's first year of office. The idea that we have an open borders policy right now is factually untrue.

1. States rights to do what?
2. How would that diminish democracy? State governments are democracies and the national government is a democracy, so transferring power from the state government to the federal government would be roughly a net neutral in terms of democracy. In fact, it'd technically be a net positive for democracy in your world, where the electoral college is more democratic than the popular vote.
I mean, when one party's platform is to do crimes, it is kinda necessary for law enforcement to target them. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Is that a fact. I've been around the entire century and I can't recall there ever being more than 9 judges there.
Tell us when anyone packed more than 9 in.

Given the fraud in the US elections democracy is not on the ballot. You don't get a choice you get who the machine determines will be elected.
Tracos · 51-55, M
I would hope the candidates stand for something, and when people cast their vote they vote for those topics rather than just a face and a name
Majorsite · 61-69, M
Hopefully, The beating will be so big, As to render the Democrat party irrelevant in the future !!!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Majorsite or maybe just the opposite, maybe tRumpism will be destroyed.
Repete · 61-69, M
We can hope for that but hope alone won’t do much unless we get out to vote. @samueltyler2
If you put election deniers in congress than democracy is on the ballot

That’s exactly what Italians and Germans said, prior to the last democratic elections that brought a couple of dictators to power. I suppose Venezuelans as well.

Yes and no
Both sides are claiming being the better authors of democracy
The “democracy” thing is only a spin to woo us to their side

we got rid of the poll watchers with rifles so there might be a better chance to have fair voting.

Yes, democracy is on the ballot in every election where extreme MAGA election deniers are continually whittling away at democracy by every avenue possible
