Is "Democracy" on the ballot in this year's mid-terms?
I could have sworn all that is on the ballot is names of candidates, that voters can choose from to exercise democracy!

It's true that some of 'em want to do that... but if they did, they wouldn't be the first to do so in the 21st century.
The number of illegal immigrants in detention centers incresed over the course of Biden's first year of office. The idea that we have an open borders policy right now is factually untrue.

State governments are democracies and the national government is a democracy, so transferring power from the state government to the federal government would be roughly a net neutral in terms of democracy. In fact, it'd technically be a net positive for democracy in your world, where the electoral college is more democratic than the popular vote.
I mean, when one party's platform is to do crimes, it is kinda necessary for law enforcement to target them. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
