No, that's punishing voters for the crimes of their elected. What we can do is ensure the election process is navigable, accessible and encouraged. When will people synthesize the fact that we are responsible for the government that rules over us. We followed them, supported them, hired them for the job or did the bare minimum of our responsibility and only voted in the Big Game.
People need help, and punishing those in need is never a solution, especially when we're trying to right the ship. But something's got to change.

No, we want to be kind. It is just wrong to say that we can't raise taxes and not help all citizens in need at the same time as we give ourselves a raise. That would not be ethical. Who does that??

No, many of those in the red states in such situations vote blue or don’t vote at all. If we classify an entire region or group this way, we are stooping down to the level of the White nationalists. We could and should stop gerrymandering and eliminate the electoral college and go with the popular vote, then you’d see a very different outcome in these “red states”. I understand the frustration, sometimes I want to take Texas and declare it a separate country hostile to the USA, but in reality that isn’t the way to solve our problems.

They should practice what they preach. Always crying about sOciAlIsM and high taxes, yet here they are accepting handouts

@deadgerbil it's pretty galling when blue states have subsidized red states for a long time, but when climate change (which right wingers contribute to more than left wingers) causes disasters in a blue state, the red states don't want to return some of those subsidies to aid the disaster-stricken blue states

What a tiresome idiot. You are a waste of space 🤮

There are a lot of things that should be re-examined. Miles of highways with no one living on them comes to mind. Paved bike trails is another. Money to oil and gas companies. Price supports to corporate corn farmers.

Yeah since Republicans hate welfare so much.

@SW-User Yeah. That's socialism, don't ya know.

Better wait until after the midterm elections in November, that could work both ways.

If they’re complaining about people being "on the government’s teat" take it away, let them see who actually was. 🙁

Yes, especially if they are always trying to stage a coup between cashing their welfare checks
