I am dismayed that the judgment wasn't larger against him. This was the compensatory damages that were assessed today. Tomorrow the same jury begins hearing the evidence for punitive damages, which may not exceed ten times the compensatory damages. They need to put him out of business.

@whowasthatmaskedman The "disease" represented by Jones doesn't go away even if Jones does. And having severe consequences for his actions and words shows people that there is accountability, which is important.
To use your smallpox analogy, most people don't get innoculated for smallpox any more because it was eradicated long ago, and there is no need. The last known case was in 1978.

@windinhishair Thats true.. But we are starting to see the odd case of previously beaten diseases returning, because some kids are not getting vaccines thier parents did. But diseased souls will always be with us.😷
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman We had Father Coughlin in the 1930s, Senator McCarthy in the 1950s, Newt Gingrich in the 1990s, Rush Limbaugh until the past couple of years, and so many others. The disease of hate never goes away, unfortunately.
ElwoodBlues · M
So far Alex Jones has to pay $4.1 million in compensatory damages for defaming the parents of Jesse Lewis. Punitive damages are still to be decided.
And this is only one pair of parents; there are other parents in line to sue. In particular there's a suit in Connecticut that should be going to trial very soon.
I hope they drain him DRY

Court records show that Jones' Infowars store, which sells nutritional supplements and survival gear, made more than $165 million between 2015 and 2018. Jones has also urged listeners on his Infowars program to donate money.
summersmiles · 51-55, F
@ElwoodBlues he made that kind of money off talking BS??!!
I hate this world 😐
I hate this world 😐
bijouxbroussard · F
@summersmiles I know what you mean. Doesn’t seem right at all. But like PT Barnum supposedly said, "there’s a sucker born every minute". 🙁
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard I'm glad you said supposedly. I did some digging and found out it was originally said about Barnum, and people recognized that it was basically his attitude.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
It's very rare a PoS like him gets to face any sort of justice do this is satisfying to say the least.
bijouxbroussard · F
@CountScrofula It really, really is. I don’t usually wish ill on people, but his unrelenting cruelty to those suffering parents deserved some kind of reckoning.
Marga · 18-21, F
He inspired his followers to shoot their guns at the parents of murdered children. Exactly what we'd expect from a buddy of Donald Trump.
bijouxbroussard · F
@Marga Good grief ! I didn’t know that. Yeah, this is just the first settlement. They need to leave him on food stamps, so he can’t ever start up again. 🤬
Mamapolo2016 · F
With any luck, he'll have just enough left that he won't qualify for food stamps.
@Mamapolo2016 any justice he will go to jail for tax fraud ..
Mamapolo2016 · F
@markansas That would be lovely.
Piper · 61-69, F
I couldn't agree more. Whatever his hateful and sickening lies end up costing him, will serve him right.
Majorlatency · M
It's about time lies for sensationalism has a price..
A separate, shorter trial during which punitive damages will be discussed is now expected. Punitive damages are awarded when the court finds the defendant's behavior to be especially offensive. SO IT MIGHT NOT BE DONE FULLY YET.. grin

Ynotisay · M
I think there's another punitive judgement coming tomorrow. And more cases on the way. If this is the only way to remove this cancer from the world then I'm FULLY on board.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
It's difficult to describe the outrage I've felt watching this.
I listened to several long investigations on the radio - some related to people who went along with the conspiracy and some of them added more made up lies and hate or sent hate messages and threats to the parents. And some of them one day woke up and realised it was wrong. It was interesting to see how far off the rails ordinary people can become when they are fired up by emotion.

bijouxbroussard · F
@Abstraction Yes. This is the danger of people like him, like Trump, like the late and unlamented Rush Limbaugh. They’re bullies, and they give weak people the nerve to participate in behavior they know is wrong. 😞
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
That's kinda what you get, when you break your conditioning in the way he did.

@Graylight how about that ?
A SoB and PoS combined is what he is.
Did you know his SW followers here said that the recent school shootout at Uvalde was also a hoax? 😒

NerdyPotato · M
@Vivaci those pieces of absolute shit...
Right? It’s their ego…highly egoistic people have a tough time accepting that they were wrong, and others were right. That ego destroys them finally…@NerdyPotato
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I'd like to see that ball of rancid pus cleaning windshields of vehicles at stoplights. I know just the place off I-35 in Austin.
NerdyPotato · M
He probably made much more from his gullible followers though.
bijouxbroussard · F
@NerdyPotato Sadly, you’re probably right. 🙁

Wooo hooo now only if we can keep getting these *#*#*#*#ers one by one. Hope one day to see #45 like this but we wont
Quetzalcoatlus · 46-50, M
So they proved it’s all an act and all his followers are just cows to be milked for money…
bijouxbroussard · F
@Quetzalcoatlus Yes, based on results. Exactly right. 🙁
cycleman · 61-69, M
Scares me he might be benefitting more from his dumb listeners.
bijouxbroussard · F
@cycleman He is, unfortunately. The stupidity of his listeners has made him rich. He reportedly was claiming poverty, but with this and other punitive lawsuits, if he has money it’ll be found.
Northwest · M
I hope he goes to jail for perjury. That was quite the Perry Mason moment there.

he should be in jail
Mamapolo2016 · F
**sighs a satisfied sigh**
Convivial · 26-30, F
Poor baby lol
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
The only question is, did he make MORE than 4.1 million by spreading those lies? :'(
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@windinhishair Making personally or his station's advertising revenue?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@ChipmunkErnie That was his personal take. Certainly he has way more than 4 million in the bank.
bijouxbroussard · F
@ChipmunkErnie No doubt. The only upside is that this is just the first settlement.
funfan · 51-55, M
I prefer the term 'asshattery' as that is what he is. Those like he and Governor Abbott are a disgrace to native Texans around the world, myself included.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
so much for "free" speech
there are consequence for bad behavior

bijouxbroussard · F
@Pretzel Indeed.
MethDozer · M
@Pretzel
so much for "free" speech
Not really. It's a defamation case. The verdict was pretty much sealed when he admitted that Sandy Hool was real. That's where it stopped being free speech. Had he not ever admitted that he knew and believed the incident was real he would have had a free speech case.
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
I can’t help but wonder if he’ll sue his lawyers for turning over the texts 😂
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@Zaphod42 I think his lawyers were doing a CYA for failures in the discovery phase.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@SageWanderer Maybe his checks haven't been clearing. So this lawyers had an "oops" to blame on an intern.
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
What a shame. Along with Drumpf, the face of the GOP
Ynotisay · M
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@luckranger71 More like the ass of the GOP.😆
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay Including many texts with Roger Stone.
Pfuzylogic · M
Tomorrow is the punitive/damages judgement…stand by!
SW-User
He's a piece of unmentionable something or other
Convivial · 26-30, F
Yet he's still claiming he won
bijouxbroussard · F
@Convivial Still delusional, is he ? That figures. I guess it’s a small sum to him—but it’s just the first settlement.
deadgerbil · 26-30
Good. People like him are literal trash
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Best pic of him I've ever seen.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
"Infowar is hell!"
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
What an idiot
SW-User
That's way too low in my opinion, he should forfeit everything he owns, not be permitted to file bankruptcy to avoid it, and be conscripted into public service for the rest of his life.
bijouxbroussard · F
@SW-User Well, this is just the first settlement, with other plaintiffs in line. So if there’s any justice, when they’re through with him, he won’t have a pit to hiss in or a pot for a plant.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard we can only hope
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Should cost him more.
