If the constitution is so great then why has it been amended 27 times?

TexChik · F
I guess so a genius like you could ask that question
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@sunsporter1649 that's what nationalists do to blind themselves
Really · 80-89, M
@TexChik
And you sound very communist
Ah, there we go. Hitler's name will come up soon.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Really amongst many other books hitler had karl marxs works burned
Ontheroad · M
Before questioning our (the United States) Constitution, you first need to understand what led to its writing, understand the Declaration of Independence and then understand what a Constitution is, the context in which it is drawn up and its purpose.

Your question illustrates your lack of knowledge. The why, if you did have that knowledge, and had read the Constitution and the Amendments, would in large part be the answers to your question.

If you want to discuss it and ask questions, come back after having educated yourself.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad I'm aware of the American revolution and why the constitution was written. Dosent mean I understand the absolute devotion to it. Following anything dogmatically is just unhealthy and single minded
Ontheroad · M
@Guitarman123 Okay, now we are getting to what you want to say. The right wing can't be lumped into one big group. I do agree that a large number of them are totally caught up in not nationalism, but their own views/dogma. The point is, they are a minority, a small minority, like maybe 30%. They can't and will not, in the end, win out. They will have enclaves, but that's it. The same goes for the ultra leftist. Both of these groups are loud and both of them hold sway, but in the end, neither group will win. Freedom and Constitutional government is messy, but it works. In the end the majority will hold sway.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad no doubt it is a minority but the buggers are definitely loud. Much louder than the hard left unfortunately
Because at one time it was actually treated like a constitution and not a religious document.
It was intended to be amended.
Dino11 · M
In a free society laws have be amended to keep abreast of the current political arena
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Dino11 no such thing as a free society. If their was then it would be an anarchist society
Dino11 · M
@Guitarman123 dissagree
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Dino11 that's up to you
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
One of the things that make it a better document, is that it can be amended.
because it can change with the times.. grow with the country and not set in stone.. good enough?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@markansas I have total sympathy for the people who lived during the troubles
@Guitarman123 ya it was and is hard times.. england did that to a lot of countries..

MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
You have to know the type of people who think it needed amendmented.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone I guess "those" people are the issue, you know, those people that do vague stuff with dirt then. Those people that thought it needed to be amendment, but pay for dirt... how vague can you be?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Kwek00 Or people like you with poor reading comprehension issues.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone that's kinda funny comming from a guy that posted a meme around about fauci, of which the article doesn't come to the conclussion that the meme emphasizes. Or the same guy that posts a book every time a statistic is posted, on "how to lie with statistics". Pretending that every stat made and used ever, is some form of deceit because he doesn't really know what it is in the book. And when called out for, also goes full Godspeed and asks the other person to proof a negative. I can misread from time to time, but you fuck up a lot more then me so I would dim it down a little when it comes to that.
Total nonsense. Typical liberal
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Stargazer89 you don't even know what liberal means
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123, dummies are supposed to have enough brains to change the damn thing to fit their needs as times change. They tossed the first one before the ink dried and wrote a new one.
kentex35 · 100+, M
It was written ambiguous to change with the times. That is what they said at the institution. Please lie still, comply Mr Barney. Nurse Rachet.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Its greatness lies in the fact that it can be amended, without overthrowing the government.
we have a sort of constitution I think but no one pays attention to it
Do you even know that you also have a State constitution?
To catch up with the times. People in 1776 had different beliefs than now.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@bijouxbroussard which showcases the pointlessness of following it like its the gospel
@Guitarman123 I understand you folks don’t have a written constitution (not since the Magna Carta) but you do have Acts of Parliament and other guidelines.
Ours is not the only country with a written constitution, btw. There are more that do than don’t. I’m guessing that when it needs to be updated, it is, also.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@bijouxbroussard we have a sort of constitution I think but no one pays attention to it

@MarmeeMarch Where do you say big words or fancy phrases? The fact my vocabulary doesn't stop at grade-3 level isn't my problem, at most it's yours

@MarmeeMarch But not all hope is lost! I think you can still enroll in school, maybe at evening, and fill the gaps

Quick, before Republicans abolish them
