If the constitution is so great then why has it been amended 27 times?

Before questioning our (the United States) Constitution, you first need to understand what led to its writing, understand the Declaration of Independence and then understand what a Constitution is, the context in which it is drawn up and its purpose.

Your question illustrates your lack of knowledge. The why, if you did have that knowledge, and had read the Constitution and the Amendments, would in large part be the answers to your question.

If you want to discuss it and ask questions, come back after having educated yourself.

@Ontheroad You can always tell a left-wing nut-job marxist. You can't tell them very much, but you can always tell one

@Ontheroad regardless of the context of the American revolution following the constitution like its gospel and base your whole life around it is just unhealthy
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@sunsporter1649 not as easy as a Conservative who most of the time are unable to express themselves in a mature adult way so resort to silly primary school insults

@Guitarman123 Again, you appear uninformed. While some follow certain parts of the Constitution like gospel, not all do. What the majority of the American people follow is the spirit and intent of the founding documents - The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad but history has proven that's not always been the case. Particularly with the mistreatment of black people

@Guitarman123 And? What country hasn't had dark spots in its history? What free country isn't continually trying to right its wrongs? Do you have a real point, a real question or are you just trolling around?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad point that blind nationalist pride distracts people from those dark histories
Ontheroad · M
@Guitarman123 True, and? Who is it that is blind? Be specific. What are they blind about? Be specific. You are sitting wherever you are, making accusations and don't know the facts.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad like I said. Those who are nationalists and follow its values dogmatically. The guilty for the most part are those with right wing political views and are keen on sticking with traditions
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Ontheroad I'm aware of the American revolution and why the constitution was written. Dosent mean I understand the absolute devotion to it. Following anything dogmatically is just unhealthy and single minded

@Guitarman123 Okay, now we are getting to what you want to say. The right wing can't be lumped into one big group. I do agree that a large number of them are totally caught up in not nationalism, but their own views/dogma. The point is, they are a minority, a small minority, like maybe 30%. They can't and will not, in the end, win out. They will have enclaves, but that's it. The same goes for the ultra leftist. Both of these groups are loud and both of them hold sway, but in the end, neither group will win. Freedom and Constitutional government is messy, but it works. In the end the majority will hold sway.

@Ontheroad no doubt it is a minority but the buggers are definitely loud. Much louder than the hard left unfortunately
