If the constitution is so great then why has it been amended 27 times?

To catch up with the times. People in 1776 had different beliefs than now.

@bijouxbroussard it's weird the almost like cult dedication people have to it. Like it's a perfect piece of gospel which I'll highly doubt the founding fathers considered it to be

@Guitarman123 what is your point? Should a new constitution be written replacing the original? It was as written as a bit of a compromise and as social and ethical values changed, the constitution was tweeked, except with a few instances in which some crazies pushed their special interests, such as the temperance pushers.

@samueltyler2 the point is that people talk about it in a almost religious cult type way and seem to base their whole life around it

@Guitarman123 who are the "people" you are referring to? It is the ultimate law of the land.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@samueltyler2people with right wing political views.

@Guitarman123 most of them would rather our country become a theocracy, and probably haven't even read the US Constitution. They are just trying to look like patriots, which they are not!

@samueltyler2 ye nationalism is highly toxic
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Guitarman123 white, male, Christian nationalism is dangerous. But, those who fought and died to enable our country and protect it, were true patriots, true nationalists! It is domestic terrorists which endanger us. Watch the 2022 elections carefully!

@samueltyler2 Washington who as well as a patriot was also a slave owner
@Guitarman123 An example of why the Constitution had to be amended.

@bijouxbroussard which showcases the pointlessness of following it like its the gospel
@Guitarman123 I understand you folks don’t have a written constitution (not since the Magna Carta) but you do have Acts of Parliament and other guidelines.
Ours is not the only country with a written constitution, btw. There are more that do than don’t. I’m guessing that when it needs to be updated, it is, also.

@bijouxbroussard we have a sort of constitution I think but no one pays attention to it
