Could the U.S.see a return to the odd/even system to but gas?

Though it was way before my time,Ive read that in the 1970s',there was a gasoline shortage crisis under then -President Jimmy Carter. The crisis became so serious that they apparently assigned "odd/even"days where citizens could only purchase gas on the pre-assigned days. Also,I was told that there were lines at gas stations that stretched for several blocks! With the current shortage going on now,is there a possibility that they might return to that practice?
If the Biden administration, aka his cabal/ handlers knock off this, Oh we can’t use fossil fuels because of climate change bullshit, we could be energy independent and reduce the price of gasoline at the pump. Fuck them!
If we keep importing fossil fuels, that behavior flies flies in the face of all this climate change horseshit.
Where is the Can’t Understand Normal Thinking, Congress woman Cortez with her green new deal while her daddy, Biden imports foreign fossil fuels? She’s rather quiet, isn’t she?
@DavidT8899 Why are oil companies allowed to export oil to other countries? Oil that comes out of American soil should be used in America first.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@independentone I agree.Though I dont think that those companies should be prohibited from exporting per se,so long as U.S demand is met first.
@DavidT8899 That would be fair and reasonable, but sadly that isn't what is happening.

We were the worlds 3rd largest oil producer until biden got into office...

we have plenty for energy independence, the only thing we have a shortage of is intelligence in D.C....

Yes, i was 1 who had to wait in ridiculous and avoidable lines for gas under Jimmy the Pinhead's presidency. And yet there are still idiots who believe that this pathetic rat-turd of a president helped FREE the hostages.
They are the same ones who elected this possible-president. Who think that befriending a terrorist is better than killing one. And who think making deals with the foremost terrorist sponsor on the planet is a safe way to go.

Actually it wasn't under Jimmy Carter. But it was during Nixon's Presidency. Before it happened, I can remember my dad filling the car up with $5.00 or less. When I started driving back 1982, I was buying gas at $0.699 per gallon. Then just after Clinton became President, it broke the $1.259 threshold. And it's been rising ever since.
@dakotaviper If you go back to the mid 60s, we could get almost 4 gallons of gas for a buck. Prices ranged from 25.9 - 32.9 cents a gallon.
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
@independentone in 1971 the average price was $0.36 per gallon. In 1966, the average price was $0.31 per gallon.

Using the 1971 price of $0.36 per gallon, $5 would be around 14 gallons. Back then, the majority of vehicles made had 12 to 15 gallon tanks.
In 2004, the average price broke the $2 per gallon threshold.

@dakotaviper when I started driving in 1971 gas at my Cali home was 28.9/29.9 / gal. Rarely 27.9. There were always has wars which kept the price low. I never paid 30.9/ gallon
All the world liar…. Err, leaders. And media right now..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout The fact is they do have fools who’ve been duped, buying into this bullshit.
You need to have the gas first, which at the rate this administration is going and living and striving for the unreachable ( no fossil fuels) odd/even will be irrelevant.

@soar2newhighs Biden is an idiot about his fuel ideas. Damn bunny tree huggers
Pretzel · 61-69, M
seems like there's enough supply - even though it is expensive

I remember the even/odd AND the gas lines - that made post hurricane/earthquake lines a daily occurrence.

In Europe in the 1970s we had 3 or 4 day weeks to reduce demand for scarce resources. The EU has asked people who can to work from home for one day a week to reduce petrol consumption.
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
I sat in my car in those gasoline shortage lines trying to get gas to get home. Yes they were very real
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@turbineman40 didn't work around here, people were clever... they'd just swap license plates with family, friends, etc. if they needed gas on a particular day...
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
@wildbill83 then there was odd or even last numbers on your license plate
justanothername · 51-55, M
That was a world wide shortage in the mid to late 70s. Most countries had to adopt alternative days for driving cars.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
First number in your license plate was used to determine odd or even .
I remember that as a kid .
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
You asking a lot to think Americans would reduce their car driving much. Cars are a way to get around
Tres13 · 51-55, M
No,oil from Iran & Venezuela
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@Tres13 Venezuela barely produces enough for cuba, let alone the US; and even if they could, it's among the dirtiest/carbon heavy oil in the world
Tres13 · 51-55, M
Easily fixed CIA Regime change, move on & do what’s needed to right the dirty oil@wildbill83
