Could the U.S.see a return to the odd/even system to but gas?

Though it was way before my time,Ive read that in the 1970s',there was a gasoline shortage crisis under then -President Jimmy Carter. The crisis became so serious that they apparently assigned "odd/even"days where citizens could only purchase gas on the pre-assigned days. Also,I was told that there were lines at gas stations that stretched for several blocks! With the current shortage going on now,is there a possibility that they might return to that practice?

@Tres13 Venezuela barely produces enough for cuba, let alone the US; and even if they could, it's among the dirtiest/carbon heavy oil in the world
