Will the Next American War Be with China?

spjennifer · 56-60, T
Sadly, China already owns most of America's debt and many of our companies as well as lots of real estate here so don't see them starting a shooting war with us. Maybe an economic war would happen though. Neither Country wants an all out war so they would both probably go through some proxy Nations?

@spjennifer I’ve been asking for some time now what will be a result of the nations debt to China 🌚
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@DeluxedEdition That remains to be seen, it wouldn't be in their best interests to damage the economy of their biggest consumer. A large portion of our manufactured goods are made in China now so it's far too late for us to complain about what we brought on ourselves...
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
They basically just attacked us with biological warfare
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@DeluxedEdition yes they did!!
Regardless of the media and what it says.. it would be devastating for China to go to war. They’re already having trouble feeding millions. Floods have ruined their crops. The worlds already pissed of about covid, human rights violations and missing tennis players.
Last thing they need is to be an isolated island bombarded with embargo’s and tarrifs..
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout yep well said. China is easily at number 2 but a fight with America would be their downfall
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout China an island? 🤔 you might want to check a world map fella 🌎
Deadish · 31-35, M
Nah, it’ll be a Chinese war, taking it to their doorsteps, not ours 🧐

@MarkPaul Again, I am not the one making outlandish boasts and claims and bullshitting their way through life.

Rules for the, but not for me, seems to be your motto.

You apparently feel you are not accountable to anyone or anything.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So, now you are quoting a demented Republican who, lacking self-assurance, attempts to create an image of himself as a tough guy. Good choice... for you. Bad decision for your radical ideology. I guess you have moved on from Tucker Carlson.
Hem1ock · 26-30, M
@Deadish I’ll gladly take a link to said company as well.
If orange man gets back in . Old Xi could end up getting replaced. If China thought trump was bad on tarrifs and new trade deals pre covid.. they’re in for a big shock.
@JS1992 too right.. I’m stocking up on popcorn..
blm/ antifa on the streets. Full fear porn in the media. Full martial law. Vaccine mandates. Riots/protests.. it’s going to be epic.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout going to get ugly here soon
@JS1992 there’s no point trying to charge anybody under the Biden admin with merrick garland as DOJ. The trump spying FBI wouldn’t do nothing. Their ass is on the line too if orange man returns..
so state legislators just pressed on and changed laws, toughened up punishments. To stop the methods they were using..
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
I hope not! The casualties would be massive!
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@fanuc2013 it would be so ugly!
@fanuc2013 We would probably be looking at near global extinction.
hope not .. we would lose. well both sides will lose
think of it this way you could kill one million of them a day for a year and they would still be coming.. next hidden big war will be money . who controls the banks.[image deleted]
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom And make no mistake, that is Chinas long term goal, which they will get. They dont even need to get the title for themselves. Just make sure America loses it.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman And our goal is to maintain the dollar as the prime exchange currency. I'm sure Albania wouldn't mind if the lek took its place. Countries compete with each other. There are a lot of people with an interest in keeping the dollar where it is, and many of them aren't even Americans.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom Agreed. That has to be the US goal. Without that Ace in the hole America will soon have nations refusing to sell to America for printed $US, which will mean America has to buy something else on the open market to trade with. Then watch the $ inflate like the Goodyear blimp.😷
It’s my personal opinion nothing more, that
China in early or mid ‘22 will test the resolve of the administration and see if Biden’s remarks regarding a commitment to defend Taiwan will be backed up should Beijing move to military take the Island nation.
There is potential for conflict between the U.S. and China.
@LeopoldBloom That doesn't even make sense. Drag the rest of the American foreign legion into yet another losing war because the US wanted to play at empire half a century ago?

I agree with the last statement. China knows Taiwan is pretty much irrelevant and has been for decades on the world stage.

As for manufacturing Taiwan is a small rival economically. If they can pull off their aims in the boardroom it makes the battlefield even more pointless.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow We're not going to "drag" anyone. Notice that the coalition dried up when we wanted to invade Iraq a second time.

To simplify: If China invades Taiwan (which they won't), they should be countered by an international coalition (which won't happen either).
@LeopoldBloom Anyone who knows anything knows NATO means you have no sovereignty when it comes to American foreign wars. And every ally who didn't go along was retaliated against economically.

There is a reason I refer to NATO as the American Foreign Legion. Because in practice that is what it has always been. It functions to bully other nations into being American cannon fodder and it also astro turfs the appearance of international consensus.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
America is already at war with China - TRADE WAR
@nedkelly And losing. And idiotic domestic decisions like killing BBB will guarantee that China is the number one economy in about 9 years.
No. For one simple reason. That will be the end of the world.
@JS1992 Lol. Sorry but could not disagree more. The US has been running around completely unchecked causing chaos since 91, dictating to other nations and just expecting to be obeyed. China and Russia rising as rivals will likely create alot more stability. The "New American Century" has not even lasted 30 years and has been a total disaster.

And I would argue the American response has been the same since Bill Clinton with different excuses and justifications.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow all countries do it .. called national interest.
these are some of ours.. and lets not forget about england, germany, ect
[image deleted]
@markansas Lol, nice try. National interests and global empire are very very different things. England and Germany are both former colonial empires which kind of proves my point.

The US has attempted or succeeded at overthrowing over 50 foreign governments just since 1945.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
China can't even progress it's own Economy....that's why they use our farms Budget to build their Military. also they will lose their 30% of GDP as well.

plus they don't have bright Allies which is a few.

Comparing to the U.S. Japan who have experiences of Pasts Wars. The U.S also have India and Australia....
If only Trump is back...China should be afraid

it's weird how Australia is following the Quad while their Government becoming Authoritarians.

also if China is really counting on Russia's Help...forget it. That dream shattered years ago
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
It's possible though unkikely.

There is already a cold war between America and China. A thing counting against it is that there is a lot of very important trade between the two nations.

China is building up its navy and is working to be the dominant power in the Pacific Asia region. America doesn't want that but I'm not sure it has a choice. The era of the US being the dominant superpower is over. Its still a superpower and will remain so but it will have to share the stage with the Chinese.
Notsimilar · 31-35, F
Hope not 🚫 wait isn't that what COVID is a consequence of??
theAlchemist · 56-60, M
China today seems to me like Nazi Germany in the late 1930s. Wouldn't at all be surprised if there's a clique high up in the chinese government intoxicated with dreams of a 21st century chinese empire that's a 21st century updated version of their ancient empire of 5000 or so years ago.......china's modern "thousand year reich".....
Tres13 · 51-55, M

Yes on Call of Duty in PS5.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@SW-User crazy how fast the makers of call of duty pump out games.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
Yes. Although a dumbass friend of mine insists we won't go to war with them, because he has an optimism bias. The more you keep just blindly saying "It can't happen here. Everything is fine.", the more likely you're making that it will happen.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Or Russia, or, or, or, or...
Alison · 18-21, F
Nah it'll be civil
MasterLee · 56-60, M
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
It could be, but like with the Soviet Union during the Cold War, it will be indirectly, by supporting opposing nations fighting each other. They won't confront each other "face-to-face."
I think Einstein put it best. "I don't know what weapons will be used to fight WW3, but WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones."
Probably not because that would be economic suicide for both countries.
@BohemianBoo Maybe 20 years ago. But it would hurt the US more than China. The west has not been their primary market for awhile now. Even US companies their primary markets are no longer in the English speaking world.

Chinese wages have also quadrupled in the last 25 years whereas American wages have been in a nose dive over the same period.

And the US has not had the industrial capacity to make up the difference for half a century now.

But OP seems to be implying a military conflict not an economic one which has already been going on for years.
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
I kinda doubt it will be a hot war. More likely another Cold War.
@ButterRobot Unfortunately alot of wars spin out of control resulting in unintended consequences. And the US has not figured out that making bigger and more strategic alliances has only resulted in larger global wars since the 1700s.
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow yeah..brinksmanship can easily go wrong
Graylight · 51-55, F
We'd lose. Where will all our supplies come from?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
America lost that one already..😷
Human1000 · M
I certainly hope so.
Human1000 · M
@JS1992 No, of course not. It’s just such an evil regime.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@Human1000 they will never be held accountable for anything. It’s sad. Politicians have too much money tied to them and we rely on their cheap goods
@JS1992 China is not communist. They are a one-party authoritarian capitalist state, which is what the GOP wants for the US.
Who’s to say ? I’m not sure how we’d benefit if it is.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@bijouxbroussard we wouldn’t benefit much. But invasion of Taiwan has got to be a redline
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@JS1992 We don’t even recognize Taiwan. We will arm them enough to make any invasion likely to fail, but ultimately - not a real casus belli for us.

The US President is moving to have Chinese language as part of studies in all schools
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@SW-User lol
@SW-User The Australian president has moved to replace Jesus Christ with Gina Rinehart in all churches.
SW-User
@LeopoldBloom Georgina Hope Rinehart is my auntie
Lilnonames · F
Nope no big country wants a war as it will b a world war
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@Lilnonames yeah I agree. Don’t need the superpowers to fight as it will set off a chain reaction.
