Nah, it’ll be a Chinese war, taking it to their doorsteps, not ours 🧐

@Deadish lol! I love the bracelet! Where you get it?
Deadish · 31-35, M
@JS1992 it was just a silly bonus gift to some merch I bought. I’ll send you the link to the company

@Deadish sweet! Thanks
@Deadish Anyone who believes that is pretty dumb. And talk about needing to get over the cold war. We get it, it has been nearly 30 years since right wingers felt relevant.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow As the resident historian here, I need to correct you on several fronts. There really is a cold war dynamic between the two countries. Unlike with the Soviet Union though, this time around, the adversary relationship is entwined in mutual self-interest. China literally would implode if the USA pulled its industries out of the country and if USA and Canada consumers stopped purchasing made-in China products. Likewise, although not fatal, if China pulled its investment from the USA, there would be an impact. The reality is neither country would be served from that kind of economic smackdown. So, a cold war... yes, but with brakes on it so as not to upset the financial windfall both countries enjoy and are addicted to.
@MarkPaul More bullshit self aggrandizing titles you are giving yourself yet again. The cold war now like the last one was instigated by the west. That is a fact.

And you clearly have not been paying attention if you think China needs the US. That has not been true for awhile. Sure it was in 79 but not now. Even American companies their largest markets are no longer in the west and haven't been for years. This is not the 80s.

It would hurt the US and Canada far more because we have no manufacturing capacity anymore.

The reality is we are the dependent ones.

And this is not about economic warfare. This is about a shooting war. You don't even understand what the original post was about or the subject being discussed.

Go back to the kiddie table and let the adults handle this.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well, as a historian I can tell you with quite a bit of assurance Japan had a similar level of arrogance in the 1980's when they thought they were the centre of the world.

Economically speaking as a recognized authority on the matter, to suggest that China would suffer no impact if the Canada and the USA alone pulled out is beyond disbelief. You might as well just join the ranks of those morons who beam with pride because FOX Noise's ratings are higher than CNN and MSNBC. Your love of all things China is laughable.

As far as "the next war" being a shooting war, my original point if you put in the effort to read it, was that is most unlikely... not directly.
@MarkPaul
Well, as a historian
You are not, so lets dispense with that fictional title right away.

And a comparison to Japan further proves you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

You are also not a recognized authority on economics, lets get rid of that lie too.

I never said China would not suffer any impact. I stated for the US and Canada and most of Europe it would be suicidal. That is an objective fact.
You can't imagine factories into existence.

And now you sit there and pretend anyone who calls you out on your bullshit is a foreign agent. Childish.

No, it was you showing up to a conversation you have zero understanding off and proclaiming yourself an expert as always and then faceplanting.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You keep trying to strip me of all my credentials. Well, I'm not going to stand for that. But, I am not going to give your disrespect any notice either. With that being said, I felt compelled to swoop in to guide the conversation back to a more realistic orientation as I noticed you, in particular, were veering off-course.

I think you underestimate the capabilities of the developed world to build factories. If you had an understanding of history, you would know manufacturing went away not because of incapability of those economies, but the economic advantage of using cheaper labour from non-developed work forces. I would provide you with a fuller briefing, but I know you are not open to being told anything you haven't concocted for yourself, Tucker Carlson style.
@MarkPaul No, you keep trying to give yourself unearned grand titles you think make you look impressive and like an authority figure. But your ignorance on the topics at hand prove those claims to be lies immediately.

Sorry but that is just not true. The US has not had the necessary industrial capacity to make up the difference in half a century. You don't just magically whip that into existence in a matter of weeks. This is not Harry Potter.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I didn't say it would be a matter of weeks. But, certainly in months, perhaps a year or two. The West is reliant (by choice) on the cheap labour of China just as it was on Japan in the 1970's and 1980's. That reliance is not guaranteed though and China does not have quite the leverage you fantasize it has. Perhaps you're the one who should stop reading Harry Potter. You seem to be confusing it with reality.
@MarkPaul It would have to be a matter of weeks to avoid complete economic suicide to retaliate on that level without destroying the country.

And no, it would be years, not months and not just a few. Try at least a decade.
@MarkPaul Again, you are inventing a bullshit comparison to Japan. That was never what the relationship with Japan was about. You are either ignorant or dishonest. The only manufacturing Japan had and still does to a degree was cameras, and electronics. China makes literally everything from your underwear to your care, to your TV, and your computer.

Your delusion that the USA is a magical fantasy land impervious to the realities of the real word is delusional.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I've studied this. You're just making stuff up to impress yourself.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You should lighten the fuck up there bud. Enjoy the holidays. Stop trying to look for excuses everywhere to bash other citizens 🥳 🇺🇸
@Deadish And like a cliche even the most basic criticism of the US is deflected with nativist nonsense.

"American Exceptionalism" doesn't give you a pass on objective reality.
@MarkPaul No you haven't. You are just a pathological liar. Like Trump.
@MarkPaul Making shit up including bullshit titles and credentials are your specialty.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow all I was suggesting was perhaps not taking the internet so seriously. Maybe go for a walk outside and enjoy the lights. I see so much shit from left and right wings saying the same dumb shit to each other and being so similar I assumed you were from here. Now I see why you’re so grumpy, my little jelly donut 🍩 😉 🇺🇸
@Deadish On that I can agree. The guy I am debating on a regular basis has claimed to be both a college student, and has given himself about 6 different degrees including one that requires about 12 years of education (in Canada anyway) which would mean he would have had to be Sheldon Cooper and started post grad a like 13 just for the math to work.

I am grumpy because where you fell out of a vagina doesn't make someone an expert on a country. And I am tired of being dismissed by people who have no idea what they are talking about because they think citizenship makes them all knowing.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it’s the internet. I just saw a post about people pretending to be a conservative woman on here and then proceeded to watch two women bicker. At least you guys use bigger wordy words than they did. Maybe you can all go on a double date and have some weird hate fueled orgy after.

While I don’t think you’re wrong it still has some credibility. I know more about Christianity than I do Buddhism because of where I grew up. Not that I couldn’t have decided to study more Buddhism if I wanted.
@Deadish Except I also grew up in a country where understanding the nuances of US politics has been a matter of survival for my country and my family directly. Particularly since we usually end up the cannon fodder for your wars.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I find your slander highly offensive.
@MarkPaul I don't really care how you feel about me discrediting your delusions of grandeur.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well, you need to be held accountable. You get away with too much as it is.
