was building that fell down .blown up by a terrosit bomb?

the building that fell down, how oculdit just fall, id guess a terrorsit was making a bomb in one of the condos and it blew up
DrWatson · 70-79, M
There is no evidence of a bomb.
There was an engineering review a few years ago that detected flaws in the structure.
There is evidence that the building had been sinking into the ground, and that the rising ocean level in recent years affected the water table underground.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I know this will cause trolls to light up. The building was built on "reclaimed beach." The sea level has risen significantly in the 40 years since it was built because of climate change. The salt water seeped into the building, it ate away concrete and steel rebars. The condo association apparently knew this and delayed any mitigation. The collapse was a typical pancaking when supports collapse.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 There could be other factors at work too, including uneven subsidence that would put additional stresses on support columns. That would be typical of reclaimed lands that behave differently than normal land. Remember the Cypress Freeway that collapsed in Oakland from the Loma Prieta earthquake that was built on reclaimed land and killed over 40 people. Other portions on more solid ground did not collapse.
@windinhishair I've always been leery of Foster City, wasn't that built on landfill in the bay?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@independentone Yes. Foster City was built on former tidal wetlands with engineered fill in the 1960s, but I don't think the consequences of building on land like that subject to earthquakes was well understood at the time.
twiigss · M
A consultant in 2018 urged the managers to repair cracked columns and crumbling concrete. The work was finally about to get underway when the building collapsed.

Graylight · 51-55, F
Dear God, but Americans need to stop with the conspiracy theories. This is an old building in a subtropical climate that was probably not as solidly built as was presented on paper, and more than three decades later it collapsed.

I'm fairly sure the terrorists aren't targeting South Florida residents with elaborate bombing plans.
Neoerectus · M
@Graylight Cracks in beams and supports cause rust in reinforcing steel, which swells and destroys concrete's strength as concrete breaks up ... Building collapses. Will be lawsuits that bankrupt the HOA. 3 years ago consultants pointed out defects. Some will be sued personally since dereliction of board member duty....
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Graylight exactly!!! The integrity of the building was compromised. No conspiracy theory here.
Neoerectus · M
@Neoerectus Apparently a woman(now missing) had called her hub to report the pool was caving in. Garage was below...with those bad beams
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Structural deficiencies.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Serious cracks were found in the underground parking garage a year ago. This is a case of greed over humanity.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
The building has been less than structurally sound for a few decades, “simple” catastrophic failure is a distinct possibility that doesn’t require any conspiracies.
smiler2012 · 56-60
:@amycandy] ok you have an opinion and i respect that . but you cannot start a conspiracy theory with no concrete evidence
ididntknow · 51-55, M
@smiler2012 There’s plenty of concrete evidence, it’s all over the floor
smiler2012 · 56-60
@ididntknow 🙄 oh dear i had not thought of the unfortunate pun out of this tragedy
I f you just did 5 minutes of research you'd know exactly why it fell.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
Not this time, obviously building flaw, documented.
Was Trump the builder of that building?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@independentone No. He was busy in other South Florida projects laundering money for Russian Oligarchs.
It seems it was McAfee’s apartment that was the target. Lord alone knows...🙄
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Vivaci Interesting perspective and a good reminder. Thanks.
@Graylight Thank YOU for clarifying and keeping the torch burning bright. I enjoy your political arguments from afar. 🙌☺️
Thanks to you both as well...your valuable inputs mean a lot to us. 💙🤗@Northwest @windinhishair
ididntknow · 51-55, M
A lot a Jewish people lived there
ididntknow · 51-55, M
@spjennifer oh, the intellectuals have arrived, make room everybody
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@ididntknow No, just wondering what your statement about there being "a lot of Jewish people living there" has to do with the building collapsing? Are you saying it's their fault?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@ididntknow A lot of Jewish people live in lots of places in Florida, since it is a natural retirement destination for people who lived in New York.

You might as well observe that "a lot of American people live there."
Pretzel · 61-69, M
the column deteriorated over time from neglect and lack of attention. they have evacuated a few others in the area for similary reasons.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@paulio like I said, they have evacuated a couple of other condos in the area for the same reason - this had a leaking swimming pool and the chlorine water didn't help the concrete either.

supposedly the pool deck went first and was followed by other supports. then it pancacked. horrible tradegy
paulio · M
@Pretzel or it was a bomb
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@paulio I have an alibi for the time of the collapse
Northwest · M
It could also be a meteor. Did you see a video of the collapse?
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
It happens.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@FreeSpirit1 Exactly. No conspiracy needed.
Bobdale · 56-60, M
Try another theory .
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
There are all kinds of theories including cracked foundation and a 'black hat operation aimed at John MacAfee.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Remember World Trade Center building 7 fell for no reason.
@MrBrownstone Silverstein said he "Pulled" the building. It just happened to be set up to be "Pulled" that day.
Khenpal1 · M
same shit as domestic gun deaths are not called terrorisms
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Do you really believe in all conspiracy theories?
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
My mom thinks sink holes, my dad thinks terrorists. I think UFOs
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@DrWatson Also could have been Godzilla
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@TheLordOfHell Nah. Nowadays, Godzilla does not destroy buildings unless his agent has signed a lucrative movie contract!
@TheLordOfHell All of the buildings there have been sinking for decades. The ground is not stable because of flooding. BUT they keep building new buildings there.

@TheLastWord As a Troll the Larry Silverstein answer was great. Made me want to find out if that was true. Larry would be up to 4 buildings and we'd have to adjust his death count.
