How much did Trump spend to buy off 40+ Senators to acquit him?

What is the going rate to buy a Republican Senator?
deadgerbil · 22-25
Not that much, they don't have any spines lol. They are scared of his rabid base
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@deadgerbil Yeah, probably so.
Lol tr*mp paying for something.
You don't have to pay religious followers.
drymer · 56-60, M
The sad thing is, I doubt he bought them... They cheerfully and willingly support and love him for free...
🤷‍♂️

@BlueMetalChick I totally agree with you maybe at this point in his career he is looking to go into history being compared to both presidents Roosevelts.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@fddlpej Well, I gotta admit, it is sometimes hard to criticize him since it feels so much better compared to Trump. Kinda like how Obama sorta sucked but coming after Bush made him feel better.
fddlpej · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick yes makes you think that a poor Democratic president is still so much better than a Republican boob or crook that works for the 1percent and really despises the rest of us.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
I actually doubt he bribed anyone. Most of the senators defending him are doing so because they recognize that a sizable chunk of the republican voter base is still in love with Trump, and they figure if they defend him, it'll better their chances of getting reelected. And in some cases, particularly Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, they have aspirations to be president someday soon.

It's slimy, it's underhanded, but what else is politics.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick Except there is not enough Baby-trump-lovers to even win them a spot on a middle school class council and if they think they are going to retain the votes of conservatives, moderates, and independents with their over-the-top love-fest they have literally become brain dead.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MarkPaul And that's the beauty of it. Trump's voter base is large enough to be necessary for republican candidates to gain if they want to win elections, but not large enough that their vote alone can do it. So they're stuck between Charybdis and Scylla. Get close enough to gain one, and you've strayed too far from the other.

I don't know. I just don't get republican politicians. They are blinded with power and greed or something..

{@independentone ] if your allegation is founded what do you expect from trump this is how the man roles he will buy and bribe his way out of trouble you should realise trump has not scruples to get what he wants honesty is a foreign word in his vocabulary
Sadly, I don’t think Trump’s paying them a thing—I doubt he has the funds now. They’re so afraid of his base (and January 6 has shown them they should be) that they’re willing to sell corruption for votes. The GOP has shown pretty conclusively that they’re even willing to circumvent the Constitution for votes.

Five years of ceaseless propagandizing.

Let's have an independent audit of all congressmen in all parties
@MarineBob What about the Independents like Bernie? 🤣
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
He promised them each one lick of his dick with an option for one more.

Three months ago I was a business man, they asked me to donate to their campaigns so I gave them money. Hillary asked me to donate so I did. She asked me what can I do for you ? I said come to my wedding, she did. "Because she owed me."
He never said how much he 'donated'.
fddlpej · 61-69, M
He didn't have to they are all cowards and afraid of him. They have been so corrupt for so long they don't even know what the right thing to do is. They just want to keep their jobs and serve the top one percent.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
Aren't they like pigs with noses at troughs gulping down any shit they can get their snouts on,no-matter what as long as it keeps coming? I don't think it's about value personally, more about continuity.
His legal team will be pissed when they realize they are not going to be able to collect on those IOUs.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
I seriously doubt he would ever pay someone $, let alone one of his cronies. He'd want them to do it for the glory of tRump and for the votes his base would bring them!
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
On the contrary it’s the dems trying to buy 15 Republicans to get the conviction they’ve been seeking since President Trump was named the nominee in 2016.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
He doesn't have to buy them off. They are responding to the desires of their base. On one hand, it shows that they really do not care about law and order. On the other hand, they are at least actually representing their constituents for once.
fddlpej · 61-69, M
Nothing they are Republican senators there for they have no backbone for doing the right thing.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
Apparently, Trump was to blame for Adam taking the apple, but the misogynist that Trump is, he blamed Eve ... tut tut, you can't leave him alone for a second 🙄🙄🙄
