Anyone else disgusted at Portland's mayor and city council?

SW-User
I’m more disgusted with how Trump has handled the situation, bringing in unbadged troops to cause more havoc for political agenda purposes is not a good idea.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So read the huffing and puffington post, if it amuses you
@sunsporter1649 No. Unlike you I don't copy/paste propaganda.
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@sunsporter1649 You’re repeating yourself verbatim yet again 🤡

Get some new material and make sure you go to your next physical. I hear the last five questions they ask are a doozy.

Go ahead and take the last word, I’m off to bed. I guarantee you’ll have already said it and it still won’t be true.
Elessar · 26-30, M
More concerned about unmarked police kidnapping random people, if it turns to be true.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TiffAching So long as it's those in the opposition getting killed it's fine, no? 🤷‍♂️ It's literally how Fascism started here.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Elessar LOL, how many have been killed?
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@sunsporter1649 Oh look who’s waddling back into things after hiding for two days.

🤡

The issue isn’t whether DHS goons have killed anyone in Portland, it’s that you want them to.

Edit: Enjoy the block and thank you for reminding me to do that. You were amusing enough to dunk on for a bit, but I do draw the line at death threats.
They are not the problem. Trump deciding to cosplay as Pinochet is at fault here.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow "The chief clause of the Insurrection Act, in its original 1807 verbiage (which has been thoroughly updated since to reflect modern legalese), reads:[6]

An Act authorizing the employment of the land and naval forces of the United States, in cases of insurrections Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in all cases of insurrection, or obstruction to the laws, either of the United States, or of any individual state or territory, where it is lawful for the President of the United States to call forth the militia for the purpose of suppressing such insurrection, or of causing the laws to be duly executed, it shall be lawful for him to employ, for the same purposes, such part of the land or naval force of the United States, as shall be judged necessary, having first observed all the pre-requisites of the law in that respect."
@sunsporter1649 Clearly you can't read because the president creating his own personal ad hoc paramilitary militia is nowhere to be found in the entire document. But we both know you don't actually care about legality.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow LOL, the Department of Homeland Security is now President Trump's personal gestapo! You guys really crack me up
graphite · 61-69, M
The guy is not fit to run a lemonade stand, never mind a major city.
Ynotisay · M
@Northwest Yeah. Maybe. :)
Northwest · M
@graphite
I don't live there
But you can judge the Mayor's performance? I wonder how you arrived at your conclusion?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@graphite Lmao yeah, Portland totally doesn’t have a long history of protest and civil disobedience. And just how many bystanders were injured by the protesters there?
curiosi · 61-69, F
Dereliction of duty, they are supposed to work for the citizens, not advocated their personal social justice causes.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@curiosi i posted about that, then saw you did too.
I don't know why the people don't do it.
luctoretemergo · 61-69, M
I guess I have to say this: I respect everyone's right to protest...but...at what cost? At the end of the day, how many of those people "occupying" or "protesting" have any kind of real ownership of their community? Minors? Students?...people who will more than likely leave someday. I'm more concerned with the economics - the physical damage done (spray paint, etc.), the struggling businesses that fear reopening due to this "unrest" etc. Once again, the media focuses on Trump (too easy) and the "Federal" involvement. At some point, then CV19 is abated, when these kids go back to school or back to their parents house, when the rest go back to working at a hemp clothing store, etc.....the city will be left with the clean up and the bills....there will still be police, the world will more than likely be pretty much the same...so much for "the revolution"....
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@luctoretemergo You think the mayor doesn’t have any real ownership of his community?
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@QuixoticSoul See if he sticks around after he's out of office. Quite often they leave after they're off the gravy train!
I am - I thinks the troops need to round up the agitators and haul them off to jail. After they are giving a good dose of rubber bullets and tear gas.
TakingBackMidgaard · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well it’s nice to see you admitting you’re not intelligent🤣 good job
@TakingBackMidgaard He's trying - after all he is currently enrolled in online HS courses so he can get that GED -
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@MarmeeMarch It takes a while for things to happen in the Yukon....lol

@BobGrant45
LOLOL. More foolish assumptions from another who only recites CNN talking points.
CNN talking points? And what would those be? is this the answer you regurgitate anytime you have no answer?

You said:
I avoid both of those shithole cities. Terrorist attacks, beatings, and murder just isn't my thing. Sorry about you.
And I confirmed:
So you don't know shit about either city, but you feel qualified to render an expert opinion. Got it.
So, let me state it again, it looks like you're regurgitating the shit Fox spoon fed you. If this is what Seattle is like, then why are people flocking to it? Why is the real state market so hot? Why do companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Costco call it home?
I was born, graduated high school, and graduated college in Seattle. Worked there for years. I know it quite well. I would not go back. Its all a shit hole now.
And since you've left, Microsoft, Amazon, Costco, Fred Hutch and others moved in, but your departure accomplished one thing: helped improve life for the rest of us here.

You don't know shit about Seattle and you know even less about Portland.
hlpflwthat · M
@Northwest But you can find him popping out of the bushes at your local public park. You're debating greenbare.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
They should go to jail for allowing federal property to be destroyed.
Northwest · M
@Keepitsimple
allowing federal property to be destroyed
Do you have any links to that? There's some graffiti outside the Federal building and that's all the Sec. of DHS can point to.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@Northwest that’s not enough?
Northwest · M
@Keepitsimple
that’s not enough?
What exactly do you think is not enough?

The situation in Portland (and Seattle) is not as some like to portray it.
Ynotisay · M
Disgusted?
I don't know what country you live in but armed federal thugs, an army of a President, doesn't fly in the United States.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
They should be removed for dereliction of duty, but I suppose the people living there wanted it this way
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
Yes. Just let everyone destroy everything!!! No problem. Fucking scum!!!
TiffAching · 26-30, F
Mixed bag in the last few days, but overall yes. It sure did take the feds moving in to kidnap people off the streets of his city for him to say anything against police brutality, and I really don't like how in Portland the mayor is also the police commissioner. Feels way too "commander-in-chief" for what's supposed to be a civilian law enforcement agency.

But on the other hand he did go out, did finally say something, and did get teargassed.

I guess he did something right very recently, and that's a good thing, but he also did the wrong thing for more than 50 days before then and he still hasn't earned quite enough goodwill in my book to let him off the hook for that.

@TiffAching The police department in every US city, reports to the Mayor. Major cities usually add a layer. Portland has The Police Bureau and that reports to the Mayor. In Seattle, there are no additional layers and the Police Chief reports directly to the Mayor.

He must be doing something right, because Cheeto Benito is calling him a radical leftist but the radical left in Portland is attacking him. And of course the anarchists want anarchy.

On one of the nights of unrest, the extreme left of the city launched an attack against him because he was out of town. He was saying goodbye to his mother who passed away that night and has back in town the next day.
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@Northwest
The police department in every US city, reports to the Mayor. Major cities usually add a layer.
That’s a good point. Maybe I should have used some other phrasing, but I do prefer having it be someone other than the mayor directly controlling the police.

I’m also with you on liking his very recent actions; if Trump’s goons are gassing you, you’re pissing off the right people at the very least. And “Trump: He’ll Gas the Mayor” is, if nothing else, a terrible PR look.

If Ted Wheeler continues to move in the direction he’s moving, and keeps moving there long enough, he’ll probably eventually build up enough goodwill that I’ll consider him a net good. He’s just got a lot of ground to make up for allowing all the local police brutality earlier.
Northwest · M
Do you live in Portland?
@Northwest

Holding back my urge to correct you.
Is that a no to my offer?
Northwest · M
@Pikachu You just lied about what I said. Goodbye, I have nothing to add to this thread.
@Northwest

Ok.
I hope we'll meet on better terms next time🙂
Budwick · 70-79, M
TOTALLY!
The FIRST job of any government is to protect it's citizens.
This local government is protecting the rioters!
WTF?
graphite · 61-69, M
@Budwick The Portland "leadership" has been an utter failure. Time for the adults - the Trump Admin - to step in and do the job that the local "leadership" refuses to do.

I disagree with some of their decisions, but they did more than most cities did.
4meAndyou · F
🖐️ 😝 I wanted to barf watching the mayor get tear gassed tonight. He sold out his city and all the downtown businesses which are suffering, in order to suck up to insurrectionists and rioters, thinking they will vote for him. And then they turned on him.

He should KNOW that these people don't want ANY government at all. They are anarchists.

Anyone notice that his PRIVATE SECURITY had to take him to safety? The citizens of PORTLAND pay for that out of their taxes...but they are not able to have security, safety, or protection.
The mayor is a pussy - but all liberal men over 35 are - so ?
@MarmeeMarch Dude, I'm probably in twice as good shape as you are, although that might not be saying much.
@LeopoldBloom Now Now - I know it's the blood sugar drop - come on and have something to eat lardass - maybe 3 or 4 whole turkeys ? 5 gallons of soda ?
@LeopoldBloom Whats the matter fats - did I hurt your feelings ?

The dimwit blocked me. It's that idiot who's into posting pics of himself naked in the woods? No wonder.
hlpflwthat · M
@Northwest Precisely.
hlpflwthat · M
@Northwest And I owe you one. I was trying to get blocked by that puke. I'd already done a post hoping for the same. I never block, but I'm not above inciting someone into blocking me.

Mistakenly opening a greenbare post(twice) is two too many times I've ruined my day.

So is this whole thing about the stupid liberal ass kissing mayor getting tear gassed ? I haven't been paying attention to the news because Oregon is packed with rednecks and generally dumb people.
JoeMW · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It's true, you have the city of Portland which generates the majority of the state's revenue which then gets given out to keep the rural counties from being even more "walking dead"
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Actually, Oregon is a few very liberal cities, Portland, Salem, and Eugene, surrounded basically by Alabama. I lived in Oregon for most of the 2000s, both in a rural area and in Portland.
@LeopoldBloom Just saying a liberal redneck is generally an oxymoron. I mean I know of some left wing "rednecks" but they all seem to be actual leftists not Clinton type liberals.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M

QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 The point is that you’re a hilarious rube, and chimed it right on cue.

@strongbow Yeah, very respectful of you to laugh at veterans that fought and died to keep your ass safe in democracy.

And as I expected you don't know what antifa(scism), and by extension fascism, mean. Not that I'm surprised, slogan-centered people tend to be like that.
