US Senate votes in favor of no new witness 's or evdince in President Trumps Impeachment Trial! Let the crying commence!

Graylight51-55, F
The crying should be on the part of the Senate, because it loses either way and is so myopic that the trees have blinded them before they every even considered a forest existed. This isn't about a presidency anymore - this is about history.

In toeing a party line by blocking willing first-hand witness testimony, in burying their heads by refusing to accept what they know to be relevant evidence, they have effectively buried their heads in the sand on a national stage. With so many Senators set to retire, their chance of hanging on to any power or ever being considered a respectable party and not a circle of abject, morally bankrupt cowards is impossible.

Anyone with three connected neurons know Trump is guilty. And we've understood all along he wouldn't be held accountable by his own cult followers. Problem is, the curtain's been pulled back and while his base is loud and crass, its also very small and shrinking every day. The Senate painted themselves into a corner by ensuring they lose this debacle either way.

@Graylight Will be amusing watching the democrats burning as they conduct more Salem witch hunts
Graylight51-55, F
@sunsporter1649 The GOP senators themselves say he's guilty, but they refuse to punish him.

You're not even toeing the party line anymore, idjit.
sunsporter164970-79, M
@Graylight He is guilty, of not kissing pencil-necks ass
windinhishair61-69, M
It wasn't expected that the Senate Trump sycophants would conduct a fair trial. And they didn't. It will cost them the Senate this November, and ensures Trump will lose as well.
Graylight51-55, F
@sunsporter1649 Continuing the same line of BS expecting the truth to change is the definition of insanity. Or stupidity, I can't remember which.
windinhishair61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 If you rob a bank and give the money back, it doesn't prove your innocence. Trump withheld aid and in doing so committed a crime, according to the GAO. And even though the bulk of the testimony was successfully stonewalled by Trump in a flailing and desperate attempt to prevent the truth from coming out, a few brave souls did testify truthfully, and we know about the president's extortion of Ukraine. Republican Senators even admit it, but refuse to remove the king.
sunsporter164970-79, M
@windinhishair Ah, did not realize withholding money from hunter biden was a crime, sorry about that
No crying here, at least yet. McConnell said he'd fix it and he's doing it well, with Fox not even letting loyal Trumpists hear the arguments.

I expect more of the same to come, with the Trump administration free to use whatever powers it chooses to ensure it continues.

When the war is over, there may be tears over all that has been lost, but for now, this battle is lost and it's time to move on to the next one.

@MistyCee Like rigging the next election, since they failed so miserably the last time
@sunsporter1649 yeah, and that worked well.
sunsporter164970-79, M
@MistyCee The democrats hired a new team for their dirty tricks department. Far better than their last team.

We all knew this was gonna happen and he will be aquitted. It was all said before it went to the house.
lou50200861-69, M
@PTCdresser57 I know...I just like throwing "salt" in the wound!!!
PTCdresser5761-69, M
No wound here for your salt Lou as it happened as I expected. Will look forward to alot of new evidence that will come out and see how that all washes
sunsporter164970-79, M
@PTCdresser57 A lot more evidence of the democrats temper tantrum, no doubt
QuixoticSoul41-45, M
Why cry? This was as much a capitulation as anything 馃槀
"I don't need to hear any more evidence to decide that the president did what he's charged with doing," Alexander told NPR's Steve Inskeep on Friday. "So if you've got eight witnesses saying that you left the scene of an accident, you don't need nine."
TexChikF
Hahahahaha! Was there any doubt ? Suck it Romney !
lou50200861-69, M
Chucky Boy Schumer is already crying Foul!
Graylight51-55, F
@lou502008 No, they didn't. They were ready, the evidence is there and the argument was sound. And they dropped nothing. They ensured the GOP loses either way on this. It was the question of a quick but painful course reversal or a long, slow, embarrassing death. Guess which they chose?
sunsporter164970-79, M
@Graylight Stupidity?

@lou502008
the reality is, the Dems dropped the ball again!
Not even close. Here's what Senator Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said today:
I don't need to hear any more evidence to decide that the president did what he's charged with doing. So if you've got eight witnesses saying that you left the scene of an accident, you don't need nine....

I think it's appropriate for me as a United States senator to say, 'Mr. President, you shouldn't do that.' But that doesn't mean that I should take it upon myself to vote, to remove him from office and take him off the ballot. I think that's up to the people.
It's not a question of whether they believe he did not do it, it's that they're not willing to vote country ahead of party.

Well that鈥檚 a shame. Goes to show the Senators are not law abiding as they say they are.
The GOP can put a 馃憫 and 馃憚馃拕 on a 馃惙 but they cant make it a President. 馃槀
No surprise really everyone knew old Trump would dodge the bullet now the Democrats should give up on the trial crap and concentrate on finding a candidate with a chance to give Trump a run for the presidency
sunsporter164970-79, M
@MistyCee Yeah, we need to shut down those never Trumpers in their attempt to throw another election
@sunsporter1649

It should be a lot easier to stifle the voices of dissent now and start working on repeal of the 22nd amendment.
sunsporter164970-79, M
@MistyCee And the extension of the 22nd Amendment to include both Houses of Congress
