If these democats have such a strong case for impeachment

Then why are they hiding behind closed doors? Do it in public for all of us to see! I guess you can't do payoffs and give false testimony reports to the democrat owned Media on live TV can you?
SW-User
I don't agree with your conclusions but I was also wondering why it's being done behind closed doors. This is what I found from Fox News https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-dems-impeachment-hearing-resumes-gop-storms-scif

The inquiry is being led by three committees made up of both Democrats and Republicans, but members of Congress not on those committees do not have access to any of the sensitive documents or interviews relating to the probe. Republicans also do not have co-equal power to subpoena witnesses or pursue evidence in the probe.

This from Politico https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/23/impeachment-republicans-trump-055688

According to people familiar with the matter, some Republican lawmakers brought their cellphones into the secure area — a significant violation of House rules. Another person said the room had to be fully swept for potential security breaches, and Democrats said the Republicans compromised national security by bringing electronics into a secure area.

Republicans knew they would be turned away from the closed-door deposition; only members who sit on the authorized committees are permitted to sit in on the sessions. Scores of Republicans who sit on the three panels leading the inquiry have been participating in the witness interviews.

I found an in depth analysis from The Washington Post but I'm assuming you'll dismiss it as part of the "liberal media" talking point so I'm not wasting time copying and pasting. Here's the link in case you're interested in reading it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/10/23/why-republicans-are-holding-up-impeachment-inquiry/

I'm not sure I believe the claims about national security as much as the possibility they're trying to keep Trump from immediately putting his own spin on it, explaining it away in his usual manner.

Whatever is going on, I want to see all the testimony so I can come to my own conclusions.

my apologies,@SW-User, it seems as though I was so incensed about the original OP my ire got up and didn't read you response as well as I should have. ✌️!

@WalksWith lol. No problem. I always try to respond to him in a way I think he'll comprehend.

Hoping against hope
EVERY committee that is investigating SCROTUS has Republicans on it..EVERY SINGLE ONE. The only conspiracy that exists is on ultra right wing talk shows...and those are lies told by paid talk show hosts (ACTORS----NOT journalist) to get ratings....and suck in the gullible.

If you are looking for examples of exclusion----look at the impeachment proceedings that were held on Clinton. Those were held behind closed doors and no Dems whatsoever were allowed into the proceedings. The same occurred with votes on dismantling the ACA and passage of the tax scam. Both of those were held after midnight....and both were held during congressional recess---to make sure no Dems would be present. It's not like "the poor, poor Republicans got shut out and we never do that to the Dems". That would be the biggest fake news to date. I challenge you----show us where even one hearing into Comrade Trumpski and his Russian entourage he calls an administration was a shut out investigation attended by just Dems.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has FULL access to anything and everything that comes out of every single investigation---no matter who does it or what it is into-----if it affects the security and interests of America. And guess who is in charge of the Senate? Republican Moscow Mitch. Your comment shows just how uninformed you are about how government operates.
@sunsporter1649 Once AGAIN you are wrong. Dems are following the rules EXACTLY as set down by REPUBLICANS in 2017. That's what is galling the Repubes---having their own playbook used against them.- When the Repubes had a super majority in both Houses they changed the rules to deny Dems access to the preliminary hearings----all hearings. Since you are a right wing spin media addict---listen to Judge Napolitano tell the Fox actors who pass themselves off as journalists how wrong they are and what the actual facts are.....

https://news.yahoo.com/judge-napolitano-schools-fox-friends-152237558.html?soc_src=community&soc_trk=fb

And out of that dog and pony show that "stormed" the hearings as a dog and pony show for TV---12 of them had full access to the hearings anyway but wouldn't attend because it gave them 5 minutes of TV air time to be in the group outside in the hallway making asses of themselves.

"Hearings" and "investigations" have no obligation to be public. That was the Repube argument in 2017 when they changed the rules to exclude Dems. However this time there was no exclusion of Repubes. There was 6 Repubes in that room and seats for 12 more Republicans who chose to be out in the hallway mugging in front of a TV camera than be in the hearings to actually be a part of the process. Impeachment was not going on inside of that room---------INVESTIGATION of facts were...period. INVESTIGATION to see if enough facts and precedent existed to go public with ARTICLES of Impeachment.

That clown show in the hallway was just that---a clown show by idiots that set the rules that said "preliminary investigations" should be private.......but did't like it when the rules they set to screw Dems came back and slammed them in the ass.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@anythingoes477 You keep believing that, it amuses us
@sunsporter1649 It amused the shit out of everyone watching the FOX crew who was listening to Nepolitano too. The more they tried to spin shit and inject their agenda the more the Judge just kept telling them there were wrong.

You're a trumper's trumper. 😂 In the face of facts you simply deny they exist. In print..on video.......don't matter. If facts contradict whatever crap it is that you want to believe---crap wins. Things like truth amuses you.....but then I'm guessing you could have a ball mentally staring at a bottle cap.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Duhhh .... they don't have a strong case, or any case.

But neither did the Nazi party have a strong case against the Jewish people of Europe as they sentenced millions of them to death. All they needed was a bit of collusion with the broadcast and newspaper industries for the German people to be OK with that, and for the rest of the world to ignore what they were up to.

Neither did Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge party/thugs have a case against the millions of Cambodians that they slaughtered.

Democrats don't need to have a case against Trump. All they need is the help of their pals in the media and for the American people to ignore what they are up to behind closed doors.
QuietChaos · 56-60, M
Do you think Trump has nothing to hide? @Budwick
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@QuietChaos Do you think pencil-neck has anything to hide?
QuietChaos · 56-60, M
“Pencil-neck”? Is that hillbilly redneck for double-chin Moscow Mitch? If so, the answer is I don’t care. We’re talking about President Littlehands. @sunsporter1649
4meAndyou · F
They are now allowing a select group of 45 Congressional Republicans to view the transcripts of these meetings, but only with a "minder" or babysitter present. I heard on the news last night from one of those Senators that after having read the transcripts, they've got nothing, and their so called witnesses are even contradicting each other.

It is being speculated that all the secrecy and so on is to prevent us from viewing Adam Schiff as Bozo the Clown, which is who he really is, and it's to prevent the American Public from laughing so hard they expire. Because Schiff has got nothing...upstairs, down below, or in those transcripts.

I've also heard that the Democrats made campaign promises to impeach Donald Trump, so even though they absolutely KNOW they have nothing, and they KNOW their nothing-burger impeachment will die in the senate, they are actually being forced to go through with this to satisfy their rabid supporters...sort of like throwing a rabid dog a piece of meat in order to give yourself a minute to run away.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee I don't know. There is a secure room where the transcripts are kept, and there is no reported court reporter, just the minder, and the Republicans are complaining bitterly about that.

The Republicans believe the babysitter or minder is there to try to prevent them from photographing the transcripts or removing them.
@4meAndyou That actually sounds reasonable, securing the transcripts, but there has to be a court reporter during a depo to generate a transcript.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee Yes, inside the meeting room where Republicans are NOT allowed to be present. Then the transcripts are taken to a special little room and babysat. Because of the way this is being done, no one has any idea of whether or not the transcripts are the FULL transcripts, or whether they have been altered.

Since President Trump has been in office the Evil Democrats have done everything in their power to disrupt his time in office. If you start with the Cavanagh hearings and all the allegations they put against President Trump. He’s always come out victorious. And one thing people need to remember is that he is doing this for a country he doesn’t need this job
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 The idiot who doesnt have any defence left says what??🤔
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Do your research on the Judge.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 So shifting the subject. Another Trump favourite when you got nothing. Now tell me its fake news.
Carla · 61-69, F
Hmmm....bengazi
@monte3 This was actually seen as "newsworthy" on Fox........

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAvq12Sa3VE

Hannity used 14 minutes of his segment to discuss how bad it was that Obama preferred mustard over ketchup on a hamburger.

God I miss the good old days when mustard--an arugula and tan suits were the biggest scandals we had to deal with.
Carla · 61-69, F
@anythingoes477 how many attorneys did Obama need to defend himself against such terrible misdeeds?
@Carla He was able to get off scott-free after only 2 weeks of FOX ranting on the tan suit. Close one there. The arugula lasted just one day. The actors on FOX couldn't get a populace uprising going just for arugula, so that got dropped.

The birth certificate charade and "he's actually a Muslim" scams lasted for 8 years....(over a year after Obama was gone and out of office).....until trump himself said those were bogus comments he made up as a publicity stunts before the election. Both caught on among the really stupid who idolize him though so he kept milking it until no one cared anymore--then he himself said it was all bogus. Most of his cult however still have wet dreams both are true.

So no attorneys were needed with Obama....but then with no actual scandals in 8 years...things were different then than they are now. Now trump goes thru more legal teams than we do socks. As soon as his legal teams lay out what they know is evidence of actual trump wrongdoing----they are gone faster than yesterday's news so they don't get dragged into prosecution themselves. Giuliani is the exception. His need for attention and to feel important overruled his sense of self survival---and now he's as dirty as the con man he represents. Maybe someday Donnie and Rudy can share a cell.
curiosi · 61-69, F
They can't get away with things like they did for 8 years under Obama. This tactic wont work but that doesn't stop them from trying.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
Do it in public for all of us to see!
And when that happens - it's coming - Republicans will be screaming it needs to take place behind closed doors due to "national security" issues.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@beckyromero Ha. That's going to be interesting to watch all those walk-backs.
Vegasfor30 · 61-69, M
Obama ruined our country
He is a Musl*m plant , a Trojan horse
Trump 2020 😀👍
@Vegasfor30 What did Obama do to your country?? In detail. Tell what Constitutional rights you lost while he was in office? Tell us how the economy went down. Tell us about how he took your guns. Tell us how much more you paid in taxes under Obama than you did after the tax scam passed. And how much less you got back than you did last year under trump in a tax refund. Tell us how you pay less for every thing you buy now with the tariffs in place than you did when no tariffs existed. Please??? With some ACTUAL facts and figures this time.
monte3 · 70-79, M
But Obama made them feel bad! A black man can’t be a successful President! Everyone knows that! Seriously you have to stop looking at reality! 😊@anythingoes477
katielass · F
If they do it out in the open then they won't be able to lie about what has been said. Their Russia "insurance policy" hoax failed and they intend to try to run out the clock (to the election) by leaking snippets of lies in an effort to turn Trump's supporters against him.
Vegasfor30 · 61-69, M
@katielass
They are worthless
monte3 · 70-79, M
There are going to be more and more facts about all this coming out, which the lemmings will not believe. @katielass
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
That makes me wonder why Baby-trump is hiding behind fake audits for not releasing his tax returns, hiding behind fake executive privilege for not releasing documents about this whole matter, and why Ivanka and Jared are using private email accounts for official White House business... or business that is SUPPOSED to be White House related.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@sunsporter1649 And, apparently we both know how "grown-up" and responsible that is for a 73 year old to behave that way. Right...? 😎
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@MarkPaul So you agree she is a spoiled child, eh?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@sunsporter1649 So, you agree he is, eh? Finally.
dommagic · M
You are aware there were republicans there as well? Well most of them, one skipped it to do an interview.....if you think about it how concerned could he have been
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@dommagic Yup, saw it all on C-Span, the cross-examinations by the opposition were most interesting, don't you think?
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Well logically, in such sensitive matters, such as investigations, they typically DO need to keep it private until they have concluded their findings.. this is the same with any investigation on anything.. they don't go around leaking evidence to all and sundry.. that can seriously derail the investigation.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Adaydreambeliever I heard out there that pencil-neck has not paid his taxes in ten years, and led gang rapes when he was in elementary school
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@sunsporter1649 huh? what are you talking about? Has this got something to do with Trump? I am really just concentrating on logistics.. how an investigation, any investigation on an important matter like this should work.. joe public should sit and wait not feel they should be involved until the findings are complete
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Adaydreambeliever Keep believing everything you hear on pmsnbc, they are never wrong
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
I find it quite ironic that the Republicans aren't asking their Republican representatives that are on all the commitees what has been disclosed by the witnesses being questioned.
Be patient and there will be plenty of tv moments at trial, if not before when the articles go up for a vote on the House floor.
