We don't mentor young men who are in trouble. We walk away from them. That stems from a materialistic view that there's good people and bad people, and there's no way to change that. And only bad people associate with bad people. Everyone of these young men who engaged in mass shootings gave many signs of being in trouble. In many cases people even reached out to law enforcement. But in all cases people walked away from and not towards them.

@Carazaa People don't change if they feel it is their born right to abuse others. My aunt was physically and emotionally abused from her wedding night until the death of her husband. The messages he got from his peers, the family, and faith community was that she was at fault and should work on making him happy. Why would such a person change? She insisted on change.
Carazaa · F
@CopperCicada What I was saying is I see marriages change all the time because the woman leaves and insisting on not talking to him for 6 months until he has gone to AA and NA, and counseling and anger groups. I encourage women to leave immediately and not go back until they have talked to the therapists after a year. Men realize then how wrong they have been. They tell me all the time.

@Carazaa That's great. That didn't happen in the time and place I came up.
The problem is we're sort of battling with an isolationist death cult at the moment. It's completely taken over the Republican party.

@SW-User Yes NRA wants to make money, but the Government can do something about guns. I have faith they will. I am praying.

Uhhh, I assume by mass murder you mean 2 or more victims.
And i assume your just as upset about the genocide of Christian's through out the middle east and the daily terror attacks throughout the same region.... and the government targeting of people in Venezuela, China and russia?
Tou wonder why America doesnt act? It's because things are still 10000% better here than in countries people are fleeing. (In order to come here)
And the knife attack yesterday in France that killed one and injured 9.

Mass murders are not just a problem in the USA. There is a lot of other bad stuff going on in the world not just in the USA.

MONEY!
Carazaa · F
@samueltyler2 Money and capitalism has something to do with it because people are stressed to pay rent and mortgage while the banks are wealthy and can charge high interest rates and the Government doesn't care if people are homeless.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
It is so sad!

Drugs.

@Carazaa Gun control is hitting your target with the bullet. Murder is already illegal. More laws to break is not the answer. There is no single solution, but improving access to mental health care is a good place to start.
Carazaa · F
@SteelHands Other countries have been around for thousands of years, the USA is a young country that is still learning about safety, and how to care for their citizens so they don't get so stressed they want to kill people. Really says a lot about the country.
I have lived in the USA and in a few European countries. The difference is people are not stressed in Europe because of free healthcare, free colleges, excellent mass transits so young people don't have to buy a car if they can't afford it or are blind or handicapped, and kids can get around on their own busses, and there is much less crime. That makes people less stressed.
People get mad all over the world, we all get mad, but in the USA there are guns to kill people with, not so in most European countries. If I had a gun every time I got mad that's not good. I will not have a gun because only people shoot people. I will pray for protection and love people instead of having guns as protection.

@StrictSouthernHOH Mental health doesn't help people who cant afford healthcare, or cant afford the car to drive there, or cant afford education to get a job they want, or are homeless. Mental health is a band aid.
Carazaa · F
There is one mass shooting a day on average in the USA. I suggest that those who hate guns will not buy from stores that do not support gun control and that sell guns. I think I heard Walmart is on board I heard on the news Not sure but I love it. Also NRA is being categorized as a terrorist organization which is Great!

In case you haven’t heard, it’s because we have so much more mental illness and so many more video game players than all those other countries that don’t have mass shootings. 😐
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
@Pikachu i hope so lol
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
@Pikachu it really is and it distracts people from the real reasons mass shootings happen..
Carazaa · F
I guess there was another mass shooter the day after Texas. A guy shot 9 people in Ohio. A hundred people are shot on average daily in the USA.
Th1nkF1rst · 70-79, M
@Carazaa But mostly in Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, L.A. & Detroit
Th1nkF1rst · 70-79, M
We just like our guns 🤷

A Mom shot her daughter coming home today. She thought it was a prowler. Had she had no gun her daughter would be alive now!
StrictSouthernHOH · 46-50, M
@Carazaa Would you feel better if she had stabbed her daughter to death?
Carazaa · F
@StrictSouthernHOH She wouldn't have stabbed her to death because stabbing takes more time and she would have noticed it was not a prowler, but her daughter. She was devastated when she noticed it was her daughter she had shot.
StrictSouthernHOH · 46-50, M
@Carazaa How is any of it the gun's fault? Gun control does nothing to prevent violent people from being violent. However, it can prevent law abiding citizens from defending themselves.

1000 people have been shot this year in Chicago. 1000+
That's just one city in America. Yes. Schools and churches are also being shot up but there is a lot of shit going on.

Carazaa · F
@graywanderer Wow, crazy!
@graywanderer Mass shootings still represent just one-half of 1% of the more than 14,000 firearm-caused homicides per year. Yet, they're what everyone focuses on rather than the other 99.5%.
There is no official criteria for a mass shooting either. To even get to the 300 number mentioned in the post you have to include anything where three or more people are injured. I think the number is three, but I'm not positive. The problem with this definition is things like the Vegas shooting is classified the same as a fight getting out of control at a bar. I don't think this broad of a definition is good for understanding what's actually going on, but it's great for those looking for ratings and shock value.
