He is flat out dangerous as a diplomat and the state department is still short of 50 professional diplomats.

@MougyWolf
He is in no way accomplishing the control of nuclear weapons. The escalation and stupid talk was his idea to scare everyone. He pulls that crap all the time. Act like a bully and then pull back like a bitch. It was his fault that Guam and especially Hawaii felt so threatened.Nimrod put them in that position. Even Japan is nominating him for a Nobel; not because he earned it but because they are afraid of his incompetence.

@MougyWolf Tbh whether they're holding hands or yelling at each other - that stuff is just nonsense for domestic consumption of both countries. It's meaningless. The important thing to remember here is the source of our antagonism - NK's nukes.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@QuixoticSoul Actually their nukes are a direct result of US antagonism since 53 and American actions in places like Libya.

Curtsying for and appeasing dictators and despots historically hasn’t worked out well, but perhaps it will be different this time. Only time will tell.

"Tensions" with North Korea do not concern us. Their nukes do. Which Kim isn't giving up.
Deescalating tensions, and throwing Kim's regime recognition without tangible steps toward denuclearization, simply wastes our cards and produces nothing.
Unless what we're looking towards here is a normalization of a nuclear NK. Which, I suppose, would be somewhat pragmatic in the end, but not exactly an accomplishment.

It seems as if this is what we're pushing for, as N. Korea is not going to be giving up its nukes. The agreement would probably be to freeze further nuke development, accept the status quo, and sell the "retreat" as inevitable, because of Obama, Hillary and the email server.

Agreed. I think it is the one thing he's getting right. Diplomacy actually means showing up and talking to people. Diplomacy is practically a dead art in the US.

@DonaldTrumpet Probably the last time the US employed diplomats at the State Department.

You mean the tensions he started?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@Northwest Normally you are a voice of reason on these topics. There have been tensions since 1953 and would be now. with or without Trump.
Northwest · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow By definition, we remain at war with N. Korea. What we have, is an armistice, not a peace treaty.
Tension has always been there, but I'm talking about the war of words that Trump launched against KJU, and the joint military exercises with the South, that flared the Twitter war, and threats of annihilating N. Korea. These are the tensions he started, and then stopped by cancelling the joint exercises with the South, and declaring his love for KJU.
His con is clear.

Well, that's downright moderately nice of you.

I agree.
Let's wait till that check's cashed though.
It wasn't too long ago that the political rhetoric that N Korean was completely neutralized, totally nuke disarmed, and the Korean war was finally over.
Now we're back to this again.
Whatever works. But it has to actually *work*.

I would probably be happier if his previous efforts had not lifted the tensions in the first place.

Legitimately, it's this weird situation where he's stumbld into foreign policy that could save lives - even his idolizing the world's worst dictators normalizes very dangerous politics.

Making a bromance does not get us any closer to the ultimate goal.
My new mantra, “Silence is consent”.
Do you think being all lovey dovey will make it easier for Trumps negotiating team? I don’t think so. This sends a wrong message.
It’s no different than Trump telling Putin, “don’t meddle in our elections” with a bigly grin on his stupid face. So dumb.

@DonaldTrumpet sure. Trump tweeted a photo of himself in a hot tub with Kim... Actually that's believable. Not that I use twitter but I can believe it.

Your's is the funniest post I've read so far today! Congratulations!
KJU still thinks Trump is an idiot and he will continue to play Don like a fiddle just like he already proved to the world and to the people of North Korea that he could do with ease!
The good part about KJU having Donny in his back pocket with a little string tied around Don's neck not quite long enough to reach the ground, is that anytime Doctor Kim decides to test another missile, his cozy relationship with Trump makes it even more difficult for The Donald to reprimand someone he only got to know for Donald's own political ambitions. After all, Don's visit with Kim was not about mutual respect; it was only about Donald J. Trump, Esquire!
As a result of this last little meaningless meeting with KJU, the USA is one step closer to being hijacked into the permanent position of 'Check Mate'. 💰️🔫
Way to go Big Don, The MAGA Deal Maker Extraordinaire! 😅

Thank god your hear to ejumekate us all.. why arnt you leader of the free world? 🤔@swirlie

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
Because there's no such thing as "Leader of the Free World".
But I can see your concern for your own lack of education, come to think of it...
Thank god God always has a capital 'G' when making reference to The Devine.
your hear is incorrect spelling.. should read "you're here"
us all..is incorrect grammar.. "us all" is double pluralization.
why arnt is incorrect spelling/punctuation.. try "why aren't"
you leader of the free world?Leader of anything is always capitalized and all references to "free world" are capitalized..Free World.
