Never heard of that! My dog is exceptionally licky and it can be annoying but not a health hazard!

@Zaphod42 oh man that’s sad. My dog licks me all over my face so I’d just be one giant blister 😃

@SW-User My palms and fingers seem uneffected so I let him lick there, and he likes to give a couple licks on my ears and neck when he snuggles up, but my legs react badly to it and I’ve got several raw spots where I didn’t realize fast enough what he was doing. Makes me feel bad for him though…it’s how a dog shows love

@Zaphod42 yeah..but he can learn other ways. I mean it’ll be obvious to him that you’re his human.

That's interesting. Do you suppose the saliva is, er, digesting you?
Is your skin sensitive in general?
Is your skin sensitive in general?

@Mamapolo2016 In general, no. For some reason if he licks long enough it starts to itch and then burn, and if it burns by that time the next day I’ll have scabs on the spot. It’s especially bad on my legs.

@Zaphod42 My only Chloe problem is sometimes when she licks my nose I feel teeth - gently, but there - which is mildly unnerving.

However, if you frequently notice a breakout when you come in contact with dog saliva, it is reasonable to assume that you have an allergy.
Your allergy to dog saliva can take various forms. Most commonly, you will see a rash or hives at the site and feel very itchy.
It’s also possible to have a reaction similar to that of someone who is sensitive to pet dander: itchy eyes, coughing, and a runny nose.
In rare cases, you might have some trouble breathing or even an anaphylactic reaction.
However, few people have a reaction that extends beyond the area where the skin came in contact with dog saliva.
