The only cure is to go into society more; you are still going to be awkward you just accept it.
I tell myself what I believe people are thinking about is most likely not true.

I just went to a group walk of about 50 people. The group had some old co-workers who I have not seen it in about 20 years. And yet I spent most of the walk trying to decide if I should talk to them or not. In the end by the time I decided to do so the walk was pretty much over and everyone went their separate ways.

Very. I have a hard time reading people's expressions and any ambiguity in what people say leaves me just confused. I'm just not very quick thinking about social things.
