I've never been on a real date. Cause the nervousness and shyness prevented me from asking.

So I've spent my whole life with women who picked me up at a bar or the work place and took me home for years, weeks or half a night. I really don't think I'm living the way I'm supposed to. I'm not complaining, just reflecting on how it could have gone if I was confident

It is interesting to think about that sliding door, how a life can turn out so differently whether you make the train or miss it. Maybe it’s not too late to take someone out on a date.

@Fallflower I'm getting old though

I love the analogy of the train

nice to have been picked up and seduced at the bar or work place though .....

why didn't the fact you were being picked up by women boost your confidence?
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@gandalf1957 cause some of that take home went on for months and years and I didn't choose them in the first place. I lived with other's needs and wants and expectations and was too insecure to leave or persue other dreams...other than the odd cheating on the side that involved the same scenario, picked by someone else

Interesting.

Maybe try putting yourself in a traditional or shy woman's place. She waits to be chosen. She doesn't go to bars because that's where men go who only want to use women; such men have no interest in reciprocal relationship or giving pleasure in return.
Such a woman settles for the first man who comes along because she doesn't believe she will ever have much choice.

Does this mean she's never been on a proper date?

@hartfire that has definitely crossed my mind, the parallels and the restraint of individual choice

You have a submissive personality and not a dominant one .. possibly from having overbearing parents? Idk
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@YoMomma thanks You maybe more than right. Growing up in a military backgroud with moving etc and the older fashioned attitudes and then the mental illnesses of those 70's ...
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Well, you just have to make your move and not spend so much time thinking about it.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@atlantic59 Sadly, that is as simple as it can be. If it's too complicated for you, then your best bet is to wish, hope, and pray someone will find you while sitting alone feeling sorry for yourself and follow the steps I outlined for you. It could happen.

@atlantic59 Well, I do know how to take action rather than hoping, wishing, and praying that I don't have to make any effort and things will just happen. Call me an unbreakable stud.

It’s all about choices
