Can people who do not believe in God still attain true happiness ?

True happiness is a man-made idea so it would be different for each person.
I don't think anyone can obtain true happiness on this Earth because there's going to be dissapontments,death ,and disease no matter what you believe.
We have moments of happiness.
Maybe more happiness than sorrow and that's the closest we come.

It's actually all about your outlook of the life you live.
I have no money. I am actually months away from being homeless if I can't stay the course I am on at the moment. I am barely keeping it together. I can't work full time right now which would solve a lot of problems.
If I go homeless I will lose being able to spend time with my kids like I do now and that is my everything.
My main car is acting up and my other car is in pieces. I know right. How broke can you be with two cars? Long story.
My health is teeter tottering by the day.

But I am truly happy and have been for quit a stretch now.
Even tho I am on the edge I have yet to go over it so I am good still.
I have a great relationship with my boys and they actually do like and respect me.
That is what makes it all come together. As long as I have them I will be happy.

Can people who [i]believe[/i] in God attain true happiness? That's the question. It's all, "Don't do this or you'll burn for eternity." Seems pretty limiting and frightening to me.

I’m sure that anyone can, regardless of religious affiliation.

Where are these believers that have pure happiness? I have never seen one.

People who don't believe in God might attain fleeting moments of happiness on this earth, but they will feel continually lost, as though their whole purpose is missing, or struggle against a feeling of futility. It is very sad.

So many people have trouble with religion, and conflate God with religion, and that is an error. God is all around us, and within us. He is part of nature, and part of all living things. He goes so far beyond religion that man doesn't have the mental capacity to know Him.

But we can still have faith, and we can know that He exists.

Yes cause everyone has a different definition of happiness.
From a believers perspective It might be hard to understand that there are people who don't care about a (made up) deity and are happy that way.
I have seen miserable christians in my life and I am a miserable Atheist. Ones happiness is not necessarily connected to ones religious beliefs.

Of course there is a certain happiness to be found if you have necessities of life and job satisfaction, family, etc.. But as a relationship with God is what we are built for you will be missing the most important thing. I would stress though that the Christian life in particular is not about ‘being happy’ - it is finding fulfilment in God’s purposes.

Happiness comes from happenings (circumstances). That's why it's so fleeting. God gives joy.

Can people who believe in a mythical deity actually be happy? At least artificially?

Idk i don't think it matters so much what a person claims to believe so much as in where their heart truly lies.. if they seek the good of others and not just themself then i think they will be happy.

Sure they can, just as people who believe in God who are totally unhappy. One does not guarantee nor exclude the other.

Happiness and illusion are two different things. I represent non believers. I have never been happier in my life:)

Anyone can attain true happiness as long as they are living their truth.
