I think age gap relationships were one thing I found out that is common. Growing up and all couples I knew/ family were the same age or up to a few years apart. At school it was the same but when I grew up and started work their were people who’s spouse were 10-20 odd years age difference to them.

You can be right and still be wrong, particularly where the opposite sex is involved.

As a man, we are also programmed, as a listener, to solve. What a woman wants is often just to have her voice be heard, to be listened to. It’s not a case of resolution. It’s a case of actually stopping to hear/listen and have compassion or empathy.

That my role isn't to take a back seat solely to provide and facilitate for others. That is something that should be done when there is a purpose, otherwise it should be a partnership. Not a servitude

My mother was prejudiced against the folks in the "mill village." After I started working in one of the textile mills as a student and then as an engineer, she discovered how good the people were. I unlearned what I had been taught, and so did she.

I had to unlearn the nonsense idea that a “real man” acts a certain stereotypical way. I’ve felt so much happier since deprogramming myself from that mindset.

That meritocracy is the reason some people succeed. Meritocracy is not all, the right circumstances and luck play a good role sometimes.

Mostly stuff relating to attitudes/expectations about women. Men get a lot of shitty behaviours and beliefs that we come up with and need to become aware of and unlearn.

There was this weird thing going on, with on the one hand "men should serve women" but also "women should obey men"

that the harder you work the further ahead you will get.
