Far-left riots swept across France on Saturday, 17 October, as masked militants attacked the Paris headquarters of three conservative media outlets, while rioters elsewhere set historic buildings ablaze and vandalized symbols of the French Republic. The nationwide unrest, which left more than 150 police officers injured and resulted in 1,200 arrests, marked another escalation in weeks of increasingly violent protests involving radical-left and Antifa networks.
Khenpal1 · M
@DogMan its not like such things have momentum , they tried scenario like 50 times before.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Khenpal1 So will they soon give up? will their demands be met? What happens if their demands
cannot be met? will they still give up? Or will they do irreparable damage?

@DogMan just hurricane , bad weather 😂

Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman said France is in a "fiscally unsustainable path" and may have become "too big to save."

In a new assessment published in his Substack, Krugman said the "spike in interest rates on French government bonds over the past month has been especially large" as the financial markets began to treat the country as the "economic sick man of the Western world."

France's deficit is expected to clock in at 5.1% of its GDP, same as 2025, while 2027's is set to increase to 5.7%.

According to your benchmarks America has been a third world country for decades. Albeit with a higher GDP
Americas debt to gdp is 126% $40 trillion in debt with a gdp of $31.7 trillion. Too big to work. Ultimately the U.S. needs a state by state breakdown. Because at least half of states are much worse than that.
20 of the states use the federal minimum wage by default. As such:
In America The per capita income reporting is a lie. The average person statistic is outweighed by long established older Americans. The population centers make decent money but the majority of people living in rural or smaller cities don’t make the $95k yearly that’s being reported.

Federal minimum wage is 7.25 an hour which at full time 38.5 hours a week and 50 weeks a year is 38.5*50=1,925 hours *7.25= $13,956.25 a a year., before taxes.
The truth is far worse than America is willing to admit.

Indeed absent a fresh start as the North American Union the truth of Americas situation will never reach the world.
Godspeed.

No doubt the DNC will do everything they can to protect this guy.

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department has launched a grand jury investigation into centimillionaire Neville Roy Singham for allegedly breaking the law to fund a network of Marxist and other left-wing groups in the US for more than a decade, The Post has learned.

The Post previously reported that Singham, 72, has also donated more than $15 million to radical social justice groups globally via a Chicago post office box.

Other funds have found their way to lefty protest groups, including several that have opposed Immigration and Customs Enforcement efforts in Minneapolis and Los Angeles.

House Republicans have alleged ties between Singham and the Party for Liberation and Socialism, the People’s Forum, the ANSWER Coalition and more than a dozen other far-left groups.

For a time, Singham also shared office space with the Maku Group, a Chinese Communist Party-promoting propaganda network, according to lawmakers.

I think France will have to file bankruptcy, suffer a financial depression, and start over.

Everyone will have to work for the things they want. Farming, & Manufacturing will be
the way to bring it all back.

Work and toil will drive many to suicide, which will thin the herd.

The world needs productive people.

We can thank Neville Roy Singham for much of the strife in the world.

SHANGHAI, China, Far from the Chicago area where he grew up, American tech billionaire Neville Roy Singham now lives in Shanghai. In his early 70s, Singham, who sold his IT consulting company Thoughtworks for $785 million in 2017, sits at the center of a widening dispute over foreign influence, political funding, and alleged connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Singham calls himself a socialist and has said he’s admired Maoist ideas since his early years in activist circles. From his base in Shanghai, he runs businesses that critics say overlap with Chinese state interests. A series of investigations, including a widely cited 2023 New York Times report, describes him as a key force behind an international network.

That network is accused of routing hundreds of millions of dollars through U.S. nonprofits to support causes that match Beijing’s view of the world. It also reportedly promotes defenses of China’s positions on human rights, Xinjiang, Taiwan, and global affairs.

So French national debt is still well under 10% of total American public debt. And in return for that public borrowing French receive a generous welfare state, a first class public transport system, and one of the highest standards of living anywhere in the world.

Why have you posted this under "North America"? As there is only one commentator who still uses the expression "third-world country", I think I can guess 🤦‍♀

EU GDP per capita in 2025, the latest year available, is $47,089 according to World Bank figures. French GDP per capita for the same period is $49,130. Cyprus is a small island economy that generates most of its income from providing banking services to shady Russians. Not a good comparable to France.
SunshineGirl · 41-45, F
@DogMan Erm, you should tell your AI assistant that the French Revolution was quite "unrestful" as well 😅

Socialism is the politics of jealousy, a prelude to communism...

@Khenpal1 Is that what the French leaders are saying?

@DogMan why ? two weeks from now things go back to normal

Democrats worldwide say "This is no big deal", because Democrats are doing it.

One afternoon of protest on Jan 6th was worse than this 4 week long riot.

If Republicans were doing it, it would become the Holocaust x 10.

Riot police face protesters after a demonstration against under-resourced schools, in Paris, France Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026.
AP Photo/Teresa Suarez
A firefighter engulfed in flames as a youthful mob watches and laughs.

A teacher doused in gasoline by guffawing thugs as his beloved school burns to the ground.

A woman’s face set alight by a masked goon with a makeshift flamethrower.

Two dozen schools burned and ransacked; cars flipped upside down; buses and fire engines savagely smashed.

It sounds like a montage from a dystopian horror movie — but it’s happening right now in France.

What started late last month as a protest about underfunded public schools has morphed into an orgy of Islamo-leftist violence.

This was from a month ago when we were told it was no big deal, just France being France. 🙄
Greenthumb · 56-60, M
This is what happens when you give the left everything they want. They just want more and more until the well runs dry. Then they riot for more.
SunshineGirl · 41-45, F
@Greenthumb The protests have largely comprised students complaining about large class sizes, poorly maintained buildings, and a lack of philosophy teachers. What on earth are you talking about?
DogMan · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl You should look again. It is now Antifa, and anarchists looting, burning and destroying
monuments.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
As much as I abhor the French, this is over dramatising a temporary flux in the French economy.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@DogMan Yes I have. But if you had been following events in France you’d know this is a regular cycle in France. Remember the yellow vest riots a few years ago?

In Europe their GDP is only behind Germany and the U.K., so the idea that France is a second tier or third world market is ludicrous to the point of laughable.
