So Germany and the US are finally getting serious and sending tanks to Ukraine

Gusman · 56-60, M
I wish for this war to end soon.
Putin needs to be imprisoned for the rest of his life, along with his sidekicks.
Mongrels all.
ididntknow · 51-55, M
@Gusman you clearly don’t understand what has been going on in Ukraine since 2004
SirfurryanimalWales · 61-69, M
The American tanks 'won't be going for many years' as they require the Ukrainians to be trained.
But Germany required the commitment for them to budge.
But I understand their reluctance to get involved in any way in a war.
They have spent years trying to put the spectre of the Nazis behind them.
SirfurryanimalWales · 61-69, M
@KiwiBird What I quoted came from the New York Times.
These American tanks need extensive training for anyone to operate them and it has been suggested they are not actually suitable for Ukrainian terrain.
But Germany insisted they committed to supplying them for them to budge. So it may only be a symbolic move.
There are only so many stored weapons available.

Countries still need to keep themselves defendable.
newjaninev2 · 51-55, F
@SirfurryanimalWales But those German tanks look (as they would say) SuperSexyCool!! 😂

In fact, I have a couple of them parked out in my garage (well, not Leopards, exactly... but lovely nevertheless) 😀

i simply cannot resist German engineering
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@newjaninev2 They look pretty bad-ass. I just was watching the news and the showed the tanks Ukraine currently have and the gun on them looks pencil thin compared to the gauge of the leopards.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Oh yeah? You think its good we have an army at Russia's border while they threaten nuclear retaliation and get increasing desperate?

I am fascinated by how the MSM was able to indoctrinate the left into becoming slavering anti Russia cold warriors.

John McCain would be proud.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Mithraia The bottom line is you don't agree that you are war mongering. That's fine, but it doesn't mean I am wrong. Again, adding more and additional weapons to a conflict is an escalation...full stop. And you are saying "good" to this. Accept this assessment as something you could understand if you were to look at your behavior from another person's perspective, not what your personal intentions are by supporting this escalation.

My solution is as follows.

A complete end to hostilities. Everyone comes to the negotiating table, they work out a compromise and we work together to ensure that compromise is met with a minimum of bloodshed and mayhem.
Mithraia · 31-35, M
@SumKindaMunster
A complete end to hostilities. Everyone comes to the negotiating table, they work out a compromise and we work together to ensure that compromise is met with a minimum of bloodshed and mayhem.

Great. But that's not going to happen anytime soon. Therefore, time to escalate the conflict. Time to drive the invaders out. At this moment in time, it will lead to less bloodshed in the long run.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Mithraia ....and that's why you are a warmonger.

Who controls the present now???

ididntknow · 51-55, M
So the bullies of the world got Germany to submit to sending tanks to Ukraine, so more Ukrainian people can die, how are the peace negotiations going, OH I forgot there aren’t any, it’s simply a money laundering exercise, also money a making making exercise for the military industrial complex
Mithraia · 31-35, M
@ididntknow Well, in the absence of even the slightest modicum of evidence to support what you're talking about, I'm just going to laugh, and leave you to it.
ididntknow · 51-55, M
@Mithraia where’s your evidence
ididntknow · 51-55, M
@Mithraia That’s how idiots usually behave
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
This matches my original assessment from several weeks ago. Russia's days are numbered.
SusanInFlorida · 26-30, F
@MarkPaul people have been saying this for 20 years. the guy expected to seize power after Putin is (allegedly) even MORE likely to use nukes than Putin is.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SusanInFlorida My comment is referring to Germany sending tanks. The next bureaucrat to follow Putin is just as unlikely to use nuclear weapons as high-heel wearing Putin. Doing so will only accelerate the end of Russia and no Russian leader will want to be attached to that. You better stick to knitting.
Cierzo · M
Similarwords has become Warmongerworlds.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Cierzo YOu mean isolationist. Well we all know how well that works in a global community.
Cierzo · M
@JimboSaturn We all know how global alliances have worked. They have already brought two world wars and are about to bring the third one.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Cierzo
local conflicts like the one between Russia and Ukraine, or the one between Israel and Palestine should remain local.
What makes you think that Russia thinks that way?
newjaninev2 · 51-55, F
For many russian orcs, these will be the last thing they ever see

It's incredible to see a 62 tonne tank actually leave the ground!
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@newjaninev2 The Americans are sending their Abrams tanks as well.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@newjaninev2 Jeez take the bloodlust down a notch would ya war machine? Quite the bloodthirsty statement from a Kiwi on the opposite side of the world. You headed there now to assist the people being bombed or to join the Ukrainian army?
pride49 · 26-30, M
I wonder what Putin will do if he's cornered 🤗
ididntknow · 51-55, M
@newjaninev2 Did MSNBC tell you to say that
newjaninev2 · 51-55, F
@ididntknow Why would I listen to a foreign news channel?
CarolinaCrushDaddy · 51-55, M
Cranking up the tanks to go fight the russians......... just like in the good old days.
LetsGoBrandon · 31-35, M
Abrams? Zelensky will be crying for more next month. Watch
CarolinaCrushDaddy · 51-55, M
@LetsGoBrandon He gonna be a billionaire by the time this is over. probably already is.
OldMan70 · 70-79
It's been too long.
They should have helped out with tanks and anti aircraft weapons immediately after Russia invaded Ukraine!
I feel like INACTION or only little action is like denial and refusal to step-up for what we believe is right!
OldMan70 · 70-79
@ididntknow I think that is an extension of the Crimea overtaking.
They got away with it easily and began making plans to grab the rest of the land around the Sea of Azov for unobstructed access to the Black sea. Teh rest of Ukraine is just a bonus.

bystander · 70-79, M
@ididntknow it''s about russia's greed, constant lies, brutality, and complete lack of civilised values. Because all russians do is lie, they try to justify their attempted genocide in lots of ways, but all those excuses are just shite. The only way they will stop is when they are stopped. Luckily, that's in their immediate future.
OldMan70 · 70-79
@bystander I hate to use a broad brush for ALL Russians.
I think there is a minority who have good values, but cannot control their government.
The US victory over Germany is complete. Now you forced war on them to end socialism and peace in Europe. You won the cold war.
@Mithraia NATO dictates reality. Google says war crimes are a Russia problem. Google is afraid of NATO, of course.
Mithraia · 31-35, M
@Roundandroundwego You make no sense at all. Evidence that Google is afraid of NATO? Of course not🤦‍♂️
@Mithraia google war crimes -. Google pretending it's a Russia thing in all the results. NATO is running google. That's also true. Global USA is unbeatable. NATO thinks it should oppose China and India, next.
Northwest · M
The US has already spent $26B on military aid to Ukraine. So, yes, we are committed, as we should. Defeating Putin in Ukraine, is the only option, and no, he's not going to use nukes. He knows that we will respond in kind, and that we're not bluffing.
SusanInFlorida · 26-30, F
if we're expecting an epic tank battle to settle this - like "Battle of the Bulge" - we're misguided.

Air power mops up tanks every time.
TheStarsareout · 56-60, M
The Germans have held out for a better deal, they are business first so some deal has been stuck for them to say yes
And Putin threatens that if the United Nations gets involved the United Nations opens itself up to attack.
OldMan70 · 70-79
@Pitchblue That is why Sweden and Finland are rushing to join NATO now.
They can no longer trust Russia - after seeing what Russia is doing to Ukraine,
Not really. 3 squadrons of tanks are pretty much a PR stunt.
MrBrownstone · 41-45, M
So $44 billion can't buy tanks..........
