It's undoubtedly the US of A.
Firepower, technology, manpower, and financing.
The only other country that comes close is China.
Currently they're a distant 2nd.
They have more soldiers, but the edge on the will to fight and die by each soldier would lean heavily in America's favor.

@ElwoodBlues If the military were unchained from the political process (something I don’t want or recommend) we could raze any nation to dust in hours.
The question was Military Might. I took that to mean raw power and capability. Not nation building or the will of a rotating government to start, follow through, and end any given conflict.
But as so many people have become so seemingly offended by my answer, I humbly withdraw it in the face of such intellectual prowess and knowledge. Surely, the smartest military assessors from across the globe, reside here within the SW ether.
Surely, I am completely mistaken in my opinion.

As far as the Vietnam “POLICE ACTION “ goes, well there never was any true objective, nor was there any solid reasoning behind it. There wasn’t any political or national will for any of it.
It was a thing cooked up by politicians and military leaders and advisors to get rid of surplus, outdated munitions, as well as conduct unconventional and uncontrolled experiments with newer ways to kill people.
Again, this is just another of my unintelligent opinions and should be completely ignored.

Probably the USA with China second, and developing her own armed forces.
Russia has been modernising her navy, and still has potentially huge manpower reserves.

newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@ArishMell Yes, Russia needs to be brought to account for its provovcations
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 Ideally yes, but Russia denies all wrong-doing and would at least totally ignore any attempts to make it face up to its responsibilities.

@ArishMell as always
China and Russia.

@Notladylike Well, it's very obvious that russia has the 2nd-best army in Ukraine 😂
@newjaninev2 I see what you mean. But I think in terms of capability to cause harm and lack of ethics…

@Bumbles Russia lost more men than everyone else combined . After WW2 there were almost no men aged 16-40 left. An entire generation was raised post WW2 without fathers. That’s a recipe for disaster in any society .
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@AthrillatheHunt and they're currently doing it again in Ukraine. They have already doomed their demographics for the rest of the century.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@newjaninev2 you’re 100% right. Both Russia and Ukraine recognize this

In terms of nuclear weaponry and the guts to launch them in self-defense, Russia.
In terms of manpower, love of the motherland, and the willingness to die for the homeland, China.
In terms of war culture and military hardware, USA.
Americans live, eat and breathe warfighting. We don't actually fight war even though we are armed to the teeth; have military bases all over the world; still occupying Germany, Japan, and South Korea; continually pounding one country or another from the air with munitions since Vietnam. And when we do go to war, our warfighters are right up there backing up a coalition of allied soldiers going first thru the ruins of massive air bombardments by the US Air Force. And our war stories are told on Youtube by tough guys who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan not to mention the ex-members of Seal Team Six who took out non-combatants and their families hiding in fear from the long arm of the US Government.

@sree251 The American tech is designed to fight WW11. It is no longer capable of fighting an advanced military. It aircraft carriers are little more than floating targets. Their missall capacity is empty threat at best. Its tanks have failed rather spectacularly in Ukraine as have its APCs. Look at what happened in Israel when it went to war with Iran. Israel had to beg for a ceasefire. The US couldn't defeat the Houtis in Yemen. Its advanced stealth fighters are being monitored in real time by Iranian and Russian radar.

I think war between first-world countries is ridiculous. Technology has unified the human race. There is no space separating you and me in the conduct of this conversation. You could be in Mongolia talking to me in New Zealand. The entire human race is virtually face to face living in one room. Trump is old school and, like all politicians in power governing nations, needs to be retired and barred from public office. A comprehensive conception or apprehension of the world as one, a new weltanschauung, is what is needed. Let the young, and the young in mind, run the world.
