I think we all knew there was some...
I think my biggest surprise is all the lies from D.O.G.E. were they've consistently been caught lying and over hyping on what they have found.
Example, Musk complained that the elevator was limiting the number of retirements the federal government could do at the Mine Office in Pennsylvania. BUT it's a former horizontal mine and there is no elevator, as it's all one story.
And when they previously were giving out enough information to fact check, majority of their "savings" were incorrect and when a newspaper fact checked them, they had to take over 50% of the savings down and restrictions the information so they could no longer be fact checked.
So the biggest fraud D.O.G.E. has uncovered so far, is that D.O.G.E. is mainly lying to the public.
Also in the IRS, the two that people D.O.G.E. has put in charge of making life changes, and making majority effects to your tax systems is a 25 year old recent graduate with little to no life experiences... and a 36 year old entrepreneur whom owns a dieting company. Neither of these guys have any expertise in taxes nor legal issues.

I'm really not that surprised. I look at all the taxes we pay, income tax, sales tax, property tax, gas tax, tire disposal tax and even tax after death. I think it had to be going somewhere else.
Nope

Not surprised at all! I'm glad it's finally coming to light!

Not @ all
Most of this time it's just D.O.G.E. has no idea what they're talking about... or their failure to understand the program.

Elon Musk falsely claims millions of dead people are getting SSA benefits.
When the truth is the beneficiaries is actually still alive.

@acpguy You certainly use a lot of unnecessary verbiage to say that you have no evidence to present.

D.O.G.E. hasn't pointed out it's own corruption!
What it's doing is morally corrupt!
All these cuts only prevent the wealthy from paying their share of taxes and makes it easier to make the wealthy more wealthy.
Just the cut in the IRS shows this! No people to double check billionaires taxes. Less money needed to pay their teams of accountants.

What are we up DOGE claiming now? 300 billion in waste?
And the budget last year was 6.75 trillion.
Even if the DOGE numbers aren’t just conjured out of the aether that means the federal government was operating at 95.6% efficiency.
That seems pretty reasonable. 🤷🏻♀

"Fraud, waste and corruption" disgust me but are no surprise.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
nah, but what surprised me is they way they exaggerated the "savings"
NerdyPotato · M
I was very surprised by what they considered wasteful, but fully expected the corruption of Trump and Musk to come to light.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@NerdyPotato ☝ that part
@NerdyPotato Absolutely, some of what they called fraud and wasteful spending was actually saving them money, they just used it to complain

@CorvusBlackthorne Maybe your should contact Biden's other Doctor (not Jill) about the meds they gave him that could keep him almost coherent for about 10 minutes before they failed and he couldn't find his way off of a stage with out someone guiding him.

Yes, fraud is bad—but so is firing half the government because one of them looked at you funny. That’s not efficiency, that’s paranoia with a clipboard!

In short, they have mainly only made claims, they have fallen extremely short on exposing anything as when it comes to facts, they have been proven more incorrect than correct.

Still waiting for evidence of any of it.
Such a waste of money, having government departments actually functional.

No the government has been overrun with waste and embezzlement for ages now hence the trump admin purge 😒

Less surprised by the larger amount of fraud, waste and corruption that’s likely a part of DOGE.

Congressional funding for expired programs
The Congressional Budget Office recently found that Congress provided $516 billion in appropriations this fiscal year to programs that had expired under federal law.
The funds were associated with nearly 500 expired authorizations, according to the CBO’s July report.
“Nearly two-thirds ($320 billion) of that $516 billion was provided for activities whose authorizations expired more than a decade ago,” the report said.
According to CBO’s estimates, about half of the authorized appropriations in the report expired at least 10 years ago, and the oldest expired in 1980.
In 2023, the amount of funding for expired authorizations was $519 billion.
Payment errors
The federal government made $247 billion worth of payment errors in fiscal year 2022 and $236 billion in 2023, according to the Government Accountability Office.
These errors, also known as improper payments, include overpayments or payments that should not have been made, such as to someone who died or someone no longer eligible for government programs.
Estimates show the federal government spent $2.7 trillion in payment errors since 2003.
In 2022, the majority of improper payments spanned across 82 programs, a majority coming from Medicaid ($81 billion) and Medicare ($47 billion).
“Improper payments and fraud are long-standing and significant problems in the federal government,” said House testimony from GAO in September.

No, because there isn't any.
We knew all about wasteful spending for decades, we used to joke that Reagan's Pentagon had $600 plated gold toilet seats.
