What can people do in the woods apart from hunting?

Hunting is bad. It gives you something to do in the woods but I think we can do better.

@Elessar I bike trails too! Lot of fun / what kind of bike do you have there ?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@robertsnj This one was rented by the hotel I was staying at. I own a gravel bike here

But not good for the mountain trails 😅
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Stumble into mountain lion territory, not know what the sudden silence is about and then stumble back out. At least that's what I did in Canada when I was 16 on a solo hike.

@NinaTina wow you got to see a lot

@Matt85 Nearly fainted when my host told me what that meant. I'm from the city the only lion I have is a cat that likes eating pigeons on occasion.

You are right: we can do far better.

We can, and I would think most people do, enjoy the natural world rather than trying to harm it for no useful purpose.

(I assume the "hunting" you mean is gratuitously shooting anything that moves for the sheer delight in killing wild animals, not authorised bred-game shooting or professional culling.)

I love hiking, or just strolling through the woods. Also camping.

It's not about finding something to do. At least for me, it's about "being", not "doing." . It is therapeutic to leave behind all the things I need to "do" and to just "be" with nature.

In the spring of 2020, when Covid was putting a lot of stress on me due to changes in my workplace, I would go to the woods on Saturdays and hike at a brisk pace. I could feel the tension leaving my body as I breathed in the crisp air and smelled the smells of nature.

Also, if you are interested in tracking animals, you can do so with a camera instead of gun.

Some nice woods near me "had" to close as the dogging got out of hand. I love to walk in the woods and hear the birds chirping and get away from the loudness of city life.

Walk, run, sit, talk, be quiet, look at the trees, birds, animals, and insects.

Enjoy the sunlight dappling the ground through the branches.

Meditate. Take a nap. Have a picnic.

Slow down, breath deep.

Must be lots more that doesn't involve shooting anything.

Who is we? Hunting is not bad mr liberal . The fact that you have zero survival skills is bad. I know you can do better than to impede on the rights of others because you have no clue about hunting or how to survive in the woods.

Tell scary stories, get away from civilization for a bit, look the nights sky 🌌
Take pics, make coffee make camp. Clean up, go away. Like anyplace else.

Watch out for stepping on rattlesnakes and copperheads around here east of the city.
