Oh I would give anything to have a log cabin but I'll never have one cuz I can't afford it, so that's why I hate to see you let it go. Something that beautiful I hate to see let go. Can you afford to keep it and also get yourself a camper? That way when you get tired of the camper you'll always have your log cabin. Something that wonderful I could never let go of. But I want you of course to do what makes you happy. I believe the camper will get old in time for you and you would be more comfortable in the cabin in the long run.

I've always felt very drawn to camper vans and the freedom they bring. My husband and I had narrow boats and that's a similar concept. I think you probably get more comfort in the cabin, a decent mattress but being on the move has to be the winner for me still 😊

Cabin. My father and I, along with a carpenter friend, built a cabin by a lake when I was a teenager. I spent many hours with friends in that cabin.

I think you should keep the cabin.

it's nice having one's own place.. i wouldn't sell for a camper .. it will lose value.. property is more solid of an investment .. the nice thing about a camper is you can travel around with it but it's expensive to travel especially now with higher gas prices plus camping fees aren't exactly inexpensive either some places charge the price of a hotel to camp it just doesn't even make sense

I think you'd find the cabin far more comfortable. and it's got the advantage of being someplace that you can learn about deeply, know where certain things are. the bigger benefit on an rv of some sort is you can go to many different places.

if things were up to me and I had enough free time to warrant it, I'd want to have both. if I could only do one or the other, I'd probably take an rv before a dedicated cabin - they're too probe/liable to damage from some miscreant finding it randomly. or worse hurting themselves and suing you for it.

I’m partial to my travel trailer for the flexibility of visiting different places. Plus being a towable once it’s set up it can stay and I have a vehicle for sight seeing.

That would be a peaceful place to get away. If it were me I wouldn’t let it go.

I have a small RV. Love that I can hook it up and go anywhere with my little home. It would be a tough choice giving up a cabin. But, I understand it isn’t mobile. I would hate you selling it then regretting the decision. So many memories. Maybe buy the Van and then consider which you enjoy the most.

Cabin

We only had a caravan, but the cost of fuel is terrible.

I prefer the campervan. My wife and I enjoy exploring. We don't want to just keep going to the same place all the time. That gets boring. Here is our motorhome.

I have camped in both tents and trailers and I have always felt it would be nice to have a cabin.
It seems like every where we would go, we would have to put up with other people’s loud music and noise.
And sometimes the public bathrooms at campsites can be a bit nasty.

Cabin. I have camped mostly in tents and own a small cabin about 3 1/2 hours away. I much prefer the cabin. If I get wanderlust for another area I can rent or break out the tents again.

Hmm? I would settle in the cabin and call it home. I prefer the smaller cozy space. Road trips are great sleeping in a van not so much.

A new place every night is appealing, but there is a lot of maintenance and EOL is way sooner.
In your cabin you can just unload the car and relax.
I would think Trump has eliminated anyone wanting to camp this year with gas prices so high.
If you can wait 2 more years then look at it again?

A camper van will depreciate year after year and eventually be worth nothing.
The cabin and land will always be worth something.

Camper vans are nice, but I’d try to find a different method of affording one, or maybe just rent one for a while?

I think it depends on where you live and how much privacy you want. A lot of public campgrounds are more noisy than what you’re probably used to. Maybe that’s not an issue, but it will likely be different anyway.

We're kinda in between, we have a 5th wheel RV on a seasonal site. We could travel in it and plan to in the future. For now it stays here all year and is pretty much a cabin with wheels. It's a nice site in a RVpark and close to the beach and other entertainment.
