I would not do that. Ten hours...
I thought, where might I do that?, to put some sort of handle on it.
It would likely take that time from home to my brother's, about 400 miles away. Even with minimum rests at "T&P" stops that low mean speed is enforced by a lengthy stretch of the ordinary roads with a lot of traffic, many junctions, bends, speed limits etc. before reaching the motorway (max. speed 70mph), and typical driving conditions on the very busy motorway even if not slowed by road-works.
So... music while I drive?
Only one artist? Well, probably not any rock or pop artist; but if it were it would be one band like The Beatles or Pink Floyd. Far more likely it would be the work of one composer, probably from the Romantic to Modern era, such as Tchaikovsky, Holst or Sibelius.
I have only a radio in my car, but that gives me a lot of choice, including vitally one channel that plays a bigger range and variety of top-quality music than all the pseudo-local, commercial ones ever can, and does so without patronising twaddle from semi-illiterate presenters and peurile advertisements.
If there is nothing on the radio to attract me (though that is very rare)... believe it or not, I can switch it off!

This is going to sound insane to people today. So go ahead and flame me. But I never have listened to music or the radio wile I drive. I pay attention to the road and what's going on around me. That includes being able to hear. Plus I actually enjoy driving.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong I do have the radio on but not tuned to inane pop channels.
I prefer symphonic and similar music, and that presented intelligently anyway; and while driving it is relaxing without being soporific. Though road noise obscures the quieter parts and the subtleties, and concentrating on the driving means I miss a lot of it anyway.

Andre Hazes Sr (not to be confused with his son who sings under the name Andre Hazes, too).
At least that way, I might be able to hear some other artists that I like when some of his songs play.

Same here no music on, unless it is a short trip then i put it on for my daughter. I like to concentrate on my surroundings.

lol...reminds about the time me and the boys were driving home from a golf trip....we were so hung over driving back the 5 hour trip. the cd we had in just played boston's greatest hits over and over...pretty sure we wouldn't have changed it for another 5 hours

I don't know that I believe that anyone would truly want to listen to one artist for 10 hours straight, and in this day and age I can't imagine what sudden technological catastrophe would even make that necessary. I am now spoiled to being able to load several gigabytes / hours of music onto a single USB stick / thumb drive now, so there's infinite variety to be had, without any repetition, without any limitations of radio station formats or distance from terrestrial radio towers or interruptions in satellite radio from going through tunnels or anything like that. I can cycle through dub/ska/reggae into bebop jazz into zydeco into 80s post-punk / gothic rock to krautrock to shoegaze to Afrobeat to French hip hop to illbient to drill'n'bass to classical to Turkish folk music and so much more, in the span of 10 minutes given the power afforded to us now by something as simple and compact as a USB stick.
Listening to only one artist for 10 hours is just so unthinkable to me. Even before this stage I'd have at least 150 mp3s on a CD-RWs I would burn, while daydreaming of being able to plug a USB stick into a car before that tech actually arrived.

@DeWayfarer Sorry - I musthave miossed that bit!
I've a Renault built in 2008 and I'd have thought its radio is accompanied by a CD player, but no, it has a cassette player. I have very few tapes and I have no idea if they are even playable now. I might risk it on the next long journey I make, but in dry weather. It's been so wet here for the last month or so that the interior of the player is probably damp.
My longest trips now are rarely over 300 miles, and those only a few times a year, but even on those I have to stop every now and then.

@DeWayfarer That's what worries me about mine! And if damp it's even more likely to wreck the tape.

Once drove 1200 miles listening to nothing but Jewel. Took a day and a half with one long break. 🙃
She had some pretty weird stuff once.

It’d likely be sports radio. If that’s not an option, probably the Stones or Steely Dan
